Tied in narrow stands, in many places horses must stare at the walls without enough movement. Under these circumstances the essential needs of the animal are ignored terribly. Apparently the welfare of the horses isn't close to the government's heart. In Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia horses still vegetate in the narrow stands and this legally! As scientific studies prove, more than half of the horses held in stands show serious behavioral disorders. Neither the need for movement, personal care and social contact can be satisfied nor can the horse lie down on the side which is essential for the deep sleep.

To tie a horse like that is in no agreement with §2 of the German animal-protection-law.
