Plastic is NOT fantastic!

The Solution to Plastic Pollution!

Target:
Mayor and City Council of San Antonio
Plastic bags are a problem!  Plastic bags in our oceans kills wildlife and washes up on shores, creating unsightly messes and dangerous toxic environments.  Plastic bags in our communities break down into toxic chemicals that then enter the water cycle and our soil, contaminating our water and food supplies as well as the supplies of all other living creatures on Earth.
We have a solution!  If the Mayor and City Council of San Antonio ban FREE plastic bags in retail establishments, people will be more likely to buy the cloth bags or available or bring their own to transport their goods.
Other countries have tried this approach, and reduced their consumption of plastic bags by 90%!
If YOU want to save wildlife and our own lives, sign our petition to ban FREE plastic bags in San Antonio today!  Join the millions of concerned environmentalists across the planet who want to care for the Earth!

We the undersigned have been studying and learning about the environment and how it is endangered.  We learned that most Americans don't recycle and just leave trash lying around.  Plastic is one of the most dangerous materials animals can get a hold of.  This plastic can choke and suffocate animals when they mistake it for food.  Plastic bags are a problem.  We think that plastic bags should slowly be removed and replaced by cloth bags so we can reuse these bags.  If you ban FREE plastic bags in San Antonio then people will buy cloth, thus reducing the amount of plastic in the environment.
People who make the plastic bags don't have to lose their jobs.  Instead, these people can make cloth bags!
Please carefully consider this problem and our proposed solution to it.  This is nature's home too.  We need to take care of our Earth!
Sincerely,

The students of Brauchle Elementary and their friends
at many other Northside ISD schools!
