This petition is for all of those upset and horrified by the annual Canadian Seal Hunt. This year 275,000 baby seals from 12 days old to 12 weeks old will be brutally clubbed and skinned alive by Canadian fishermen who will sell their fur.
In 2001, an independent group of veterinarians conducted research and determined that 42% of the clubbed seals were conscious and aware that they were being skinned alive.
Yet still, the Canadian government claims this hunt is humane. That is why we are boycotting Canadian seafood and starting a petition that none of us will travel to Canada while this hunt continues.
This petition is a pledge that we will not travel to Canada, buy any Canadian products, or in any way help support Canada's economy, until your government puts a stop to the slaughter.
All of us are committed to informing our friends, family, students, work associates and anyone else who will listen, what the Canadian government is allowing: the horrific and barbaric seal hunt.
Therefore, we will now do everything in our power to see that Canada lose all of its profits from the seal hunting, to lost tourism and lost export sales.

This petition is to inform you that, after learning your government has again sponsored another annual slaughter of seals, the below signed will no longer travel to Canada, purchase any Canadian products, or support the Canadian government in any form.
Unfortunately, after seeing the footage of your so called fisherman clubbing and slaughtering helpless seal pups while other seals are forced to watch in horror before meeting the same fate, it was too much for any of us to ignore.
In addition, we are not just going to boycott traveling to Canada or traveling on any Canadian airline, the below signed also have committed to ban all seafood and any other Canadian products until your government puts a stop to the slaughter.
All of us are committed to informing our friends, family, students, work associates and anyone else who%u2019ll listen of what your government is doing to the seals. If you think this is an issue that only environmentalist and animal rights activists care about, YOU%u2019RE DEAD WRONG! We are ALL appalled that this takes place in neighboring Canada.
Your seal hunt is not a "hunt"; it%u2019s a mass murder of wildlife with clubs and spikes. This is an issue of morality. The Canadian seal hunt is an act of pure violence, which must stop now! Frankly, we are stunned that Canada would sponsor such a primitive and inhumane treatment of its wildlife, regardless of profit.
Therefore, we will now do everything in our power to see that Canada lose all of its profits from the seal hunting, to lost tourism and lost export sales.

I live in Canada and am totally against seal hunting,fur industry and anything affiliated with it,.Always have been and always will be.No excuses to keep this ludicrous and inhumane practice going.Fur trade is passe`and should have been ended long ago. |
