We all have a favorite web page: Let's work to preserve it today!

Preserve Your Web Page

There's a lot going on online today. Some of us are watching the latest uploads to YouTube or Hulu, while others are checking team stats and posting to discussion boards populated by friends and family across the country, or even the world. I myself am preparing my next blog post, while we all are checking what filters through to our email inbox.

But most of us take this for granted. What makes all this possible is a little thing called "Net Neutrality," the guiding principle that preserves the free and open use of the Internet.

Net Neutrality prevents Internet providers like Comcast, Time Warner, and AT&T from blocking, speeding up or slowing down Web content based on its source, ownership or destination.

These companies are working night and day to find ways to bias the Internet in their favor. But one organization, Save The Internet.com, mobilizes citizens and lobbies congress for those of us who don't wish to be shut out from the vital conversations taking place online.

By signing this petition, you add your name to the growing list of those who strongly support Net Neutrality, and are willing to heed a call to action when cable and telephone companies try to dictate the terms for our use of the web.

Your name and email will be added to the Save The Internet.com email list and you'll be updated on the issue of Net Neutrality, as well as alerted when a signature or email to your representative is needed to remind policy makers and communication companies who has really made the Internet flourish today: us, the users.

We the undersigned are all Internet users and feel strongly about preserving Net Neutrality, the guiding principle that preserves the free and open use of the Internet.

Each of us has signed this petition as a show of solidarity for the work you've done on our behalf.  We would like to add our names and email contact information to the growing list of those who strongly support Net Neutrality, and are willing to heed a call to action when cable and telephone companies try to dictate the terms for our use of the web.

Please keep us updated on the issue of Net Neutrality, and alert us when a signature or email to our representative is needed to remind policy makers and communication companies who has really made the Internet flourish today: us, the users.

The internet is founded on and thrives because of net neutrality. To inhibit or modify that expression would be more than an affront to personal liberty--it would obstruct a free market of ideas and transactions and would ultimately reduce our nation's competitiveness.

We must protect the internet from conspiring privatization. If the net does not remain neutral to and open to all who use it, the inevitable result (and you know this, you know it) will be anarchy in some form. Users and hackers, out of anger, would tear down and destroy the current internet model and replace it with one that was once again free and open. True, such a process would take years, but it would happen. So the choice is yours, but it is in yours and everybody's interest to protect the internet from those that would rob the public of this great and necessary freedom.
