Professionals Against Foie Gras is a new organization in Philadelphia designed to show the public that the overwhelming majority of the business community and the professional class - those who would typically eat foie gras - are opposed to the sale of foie gras, that we will not patronize restaurants that serve the cruel dish, and that we support Councilman Jack Kelly's bill to ban the sale of foie gras in Philadelphia. Our website, www.pafg.org, will be online in a few weeks as soon as additional signatures are gathered.

Ducks and geese on foie gras farms suffer incredible cruelty. Foie gras has already been banned in California, Chicago, and 16 other countries. The vast majority of restaurants in Philadelphia that had served foie gras in the past have stopped serving it, and a recent Zogy poll showed that 85% of Pennsylvanians want foie gras banned. Foie gras has no place in a city and society such as ours, which believes that animals should be treated humanely.

We the undersigned live, work, and/or dine in the City of Philadelphia, and we oppose the sale of foie gras in Philadelphia. We will not patronize restaurants or other establishments that serve foie gras, and we will encourage our businesses, family, friends and co-workers to do the same. Furthermore, we support Councilman Jack Kelly's bill to ban the sale of foie gras and we encourage all Philadelphia City Council members to vote in support of this bill (Bill 060476).
