Michael Paul Astorga is being housed, pre-trial at the level 6 unit of the State Pen in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Michael's rights are continually being violated. Michael is not being allowed to send out any mail. Michael's legal mail is being received by him, already opened. Michael is not being allowed reasonable attorney of family visits. Michael, and his family and supporters have been harrassed on numerous occasions.
We ask that Michael's rights as a pre-trial defendant be honored immediately. Michael should be allowed to send out mail, have his legal mail delivered to him unopened, and have reasonable attorney and family visits.
Michael has not yet gone to trial, nor has he been convicted of the crime. The treatment he is receiving is cruel and unusal and must stop at once.
We ask that you please follow the rules set forth by the United States, and the state of New Mexico and make sure that Michael Astorga receive the treatment that he is intitled to under the Constitutionof the United States. Michael is a pre trial detainee, and deserves to be treated as innocent until proven guilty. The actions that have taken place, and Michaels rights that have been violated are against Constitutional law. Please rectify this issue at once, and let us continue to have faith in New Mexico Department of Corrections.
