Protect Education for ALL Students

The International Coalition for Autism and All Abilities (ICAA) has become aware of gross discrimination and segregation occurring in local public schools in the St. Louis area, and across the United States. Students with disabilities are ushered out of school before everyone else, missing important instructional time, special events, assemblies, field day activities or even field trips.  Though laws are in place to ensure equal access to education, and though it is a violation of students' civil rights, many schools are engaging in this behavior.  Please send a strong message that existing laws and rights must be respected for all students, as we ask for stronger oversight and enforcement. Would you accept this discrimination and segregation if all racial minorities were ushered out before the end of the school day? What if this were you or your child being ushered out in front of the rest of the school each day? Is segregation and discrimination what we hope students are being taught in our public schools?  The notion that people with disabilities are "less than" or not worthy of an equal opportunity for education is a disgrace to everything our country and our constitution stands for.   Please stand up for ALL children in our schools.
