Protect Human rights, Jail the Police

Recently Michael Tarif Warren and his wife Evelyn, who are prominent human rights attorneys, witnessed the police beating of a young African American in NYC. When they asked why the police were beating a man who was handcuffed and unarmed, the police attacked them. Michael was charged with resisting arrest, obstuctive governmental administration and disorderly conduct. Evelyn is also charged with disorderly conduct. In reality, it was the police who were disorderly in their misadministration of justice.
We are supporters of human rights across the world and we are outraged that human rights are not being protected in Brooklyn. It is not a crime to inquire why police are beating a man senseless, as the Warrens were doing. They were acting within the law as citizens and attorneys who witnessed a crime being perpetrated by police officers.

We demand that justice be carried out in this case. We want all charges against the Warrens to be dropped immediately. In addition, they should be compensated for their injuries and a written apology delivered from NYC to them. We also want a thorough investigation of the arresting officers up to and including charges being brought against them.  Finally, we want justice for the young man who the Warrens witnessed being beaten. He deserves compensation for his injuries and a thorough investigation into whether he was guilty of the crimes for which the police were punishing him. The police should be investigated for violating his right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment, as protected by the United States constitution.
