Petition to Protect Bonaventure
Please help us protect the beautiful and unique vista of historic Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA (featured in the novel and movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil") from thoughtless construction right at its entrance by the owners of adjacent Forest Lawn Cemetery. We ask anyone who cares about maintaining the historic environment of Bonaventure Cemetery, with its priceless live oaks and magnolias, to sign our petition asking the owners to be a good neighbor and steward of what is truly a shared and common treasure.
We, the undersigned citizens, residents, and tourists of Savannah/Chatham County, object to the construction of a mausoleum at the entrance to Bonaventure Cemetery, our local treasure and national landmark. We respectfully request that Forest Lawn, owner of the property, consider another location so that the beauty of this publicly shared view of nature is preserved. Thank you for your consideration.
