This has got to be one of the most viscous, inhumane, vilest acts that has ever been found out. These two should not only receive the Maximum sentence allowed by law, but should also be committed to an asylum for the criminally deranged. The brutality that was involved in this crime was like something out of a horror movie. Sadistic at every turn. These two should be locked away for life, for the safety and well being of the people and animals. They are indeed a menace and danger to society.

I have a dog that endured abuse before we adopted him. He is fearful of staplers, and literally hides under the house when one is used. Fully implementing the penalties provided for in the Utah Code upon Mr. Spidel will be another step toward eliminating the coarse debasement of our community.

I believe Anthony Spidle, like he himself does, deserves to be punished for his actions--but as the law describes. In this case however, the evidence does not support the element of the "torture" part of the new law, but does support the animal abuse portion.
