We the undersigned are deeply saddened and upset that Animal Planet USA has decided to remove The Crocodile Hunter and all Steve Irwin shows from your lineup. The Irwin family shows were hugely popular all in the USA and all over the world. Fans of Steve Irwin young and old and children who don't know or understand that he has passed on greatly love his shows--even knowing that they are reruns.
So many people have been inspired to help, protect and save wildlife and wild places due to the wonderful conservation message Steve Irwin brought to the Animal Planet screen.
There are still so many people out there, including young children who have never seen Steve's shows, that need to hear his wildlife conservation message.
Steve's show helped to make Animal Planet and as they said in a press release on Tuesday, September 6th 2006 quoted from their website:
"Discovery Communications is deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. Steve was beloved by millions of fans and animal lovers around the world and was one of our planet's most passionate conservationists. He has graced Animal Planet's air since October 1996 and was essential in building Animal Planet into a global brand."
Discovery Networks International President Dawn McCall, said,
"Rarely has the world embraced an animal enthusiast and conservationist as they did Steve Irwin. Steve's passion for animals and leadership in conservation awareness leaves a powerful and lasting legacy across the globe."
Outside the United States, Animal Planet is available in 160 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East with programming customized in 24 languages. --that's allot of Croc Hunter!
It is obvious that the quality programming offered by Steve Irwin and family are still very popular all over the planet so please consider bringing Steve back to Animal Planet so the world can hear, learn and be inspired by Steve's passionate message of the conservation of the wild creatures and wild places of the planet--our Animal Planet.
NOTE as of 9/9/2008: According to the Discovery Communications/Animal Planet website it appears that AP is bringing Steve Irwin The Crocodile Hunter back to TV! WOO HOO!!
NOTE: October 09, 2008 Steve is back on AP! I just watched an episode of the Crocodile Hunter! Thank You Animal Planet for bringing our hero back! I plan to keep this petition open until Steve Irwin Day on November 15. After that date I will close the petition and send it to AP because I feel that while AP obviously realizes how important Steve has been for the success of their channel--the voice of his fans still need to be heard.
Thank you to everyone who has signed this petition and thank you to those who plan to sign. CROCS RULE!!

Hes was important because he tought and educated people on telavision everday about animals.I am also a huge fan of steve irwin.
He taught me things I never knew and made me want to learn more.
He was a leader in conservation and made me a better person
Personally I first thought he was crazy handling snakes, crocs....but after listening/watching how much he truly loved/cared for God's creatures...my respect and admiration grew...He was amazing. Seeing how much he loved his family has also enriched my life....I have now introduced my 3 younger grandchildren to his program via dvd....they love them....are learning his message....He was/is/always will be the Wild Life Warrior we need.....
He is my idol. His shows are like the Bible to me. I live and learn from him. Without him I wouldn't have my amazing pets. I wouldnt have chosen the path of wildlife conservation without him. The more people that see his show, the more people that are going to be inspired and the more people and going to change the world like he did. R.I.P Mate xxxx
He was a role model for us all! We miss you Crocodile Hunter and still grieve for your family.
Because we wear similar uniforms.
He was the real deal, and he wasn't afarid to be himself, I WANT HIM BACK ON T.V. Even thu he isn't here he is still a hero in my familys book...
Stevo gives us the believe that it works......to try to help our planet.
Steve is important because of the message he brings about animals. His is one show our family watches together. We learn, we laugh, we are amazed and sometimes sad. Never has learning about animals been so much fun. His message is timeless. I wish I could thank him for such an amazing show.
Steve`s message is not only important to me it is important to the whole world. He made us realize we should take care of our planet, not just the animals, everything! He was a true hero and loved this planet and it`s animals greatly. He gave his life for them! What more could you ask?
Steve Irwin was important to me because he took you into a whole new world of animals, and creatures that you would never before have experienced. He showed you have like us humans need love and affection, animals need it just as much as we do. He was fearless, humorous, and a great inspiration to everyone who loves animals. He will surely be missed. But that doesn't mean he has to be forgotten.
Steve had such as big heart that you couldn't help but feel like he was part of your family i know he was a regular part of our family Thanks for everything STEVE
Steve brought the joy of taking care of wild animals into my home and into our lives. We would have never had the opportunity to see the other side of the world and all of the wonderful animals that make up our great planet. Steve was a rare person and much appreciated by my family.
HE TAUGHT THE WORLD TO LOVE ANIMALS IN AWAY NEVER KNOWN, HE PUT THE MESSAGE OUT THERE, TOOK US UP CLOSE, I HOPE HE ISPUT BACK ON, SO COULD YOU OR SOMEONE INFORM ME THE DATES AND TIMES HE WILL BE ON, FOR WE WILL BE GLUES TO HIS SHOW, ANN_GODWIN@COMCAST.NET PLEASE, AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU
I've learned much over the many years all while being entertained!
Steve was important to our family because he showed us the important message to take care of wildlife.
His honesty and the down to earth personality was so wonderful. He was so dedicated and he made me start listening to what really was going on with our world and what we need to do about conservation. He was one of us. And he showed us the big picture!! He made me feel good just watching his show and gave everyone in my family the knowledge of all animals and the balance they have on this planet. You wanted to listen to him. There is only one Steve Irwin and no one could get the word out and make you want to listen but him!!! NO ONE CAN REPLACE HIM!! KEEP HIS SHOW ON....KEEP HIS MESSAGE GOING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION!!
Steve was my hero and meant so much to me
He was so passonate about wildlife. His enthusiasim came right through. You could see that he really cared about wildlife. It wasn't fake. Furthermore I was greatly insipired by him. I didn't like crocodiles or snakes before I started to watch him. But now I love them!! He really taught everybody to love all wildlife and the world is a worse off without him.
Why was Steve Irwin important to me. Steve was an honest and fun person to watch. He entertain as well as explained everything from a bee sting to a croc bite. After watching his shows you felt that you were as important to the wild life as he was. You understood and respected all animals!!!!
HE WAS MY HERO__ HE WAS FUN__INNOCENT__ HE LOVED ANIMALS__I AM SUCH A HUGE FAN -- YOU FELT LIKE YOU KNEW HIM__ I AM HOWEVER GLAD AT LEAST STEVE IS NOW ON AT 300pm --
BECAUSE HE WAS AN ALL AROUND NICE GUY WHO LOVED HIS FAMILY. YOU COULD SEE IT IN HIS EYES WHEN HE LOOKED AT TERRI AND HIS CHILDREN HOW MUCH HE LOVED THEM. WE MISS HIM. I'M 60 YEARS OLD AND ENJOYED HIS SHOW.
If there were more people like Steve Irwin in this world, it just might be a better place to live for animals as well as people. He taught people more in his short life than anyone i know.
He was important because he was a true person. Not like some of these people you see that will say anything to get what they want. His word, he was man enough to back up. He & Terri are a team, and always will be.
Steve was and still is very important to my family. Through his wildlife message my children and there children will be kinder and more enviromentaly friendly .
Because he was everything good....he didn't smoke, he didn't drink, he didn't run around on Terri, I don't think he even watched t.v!!! he saved animals and their enviroment, he was teaching us how important our enviroment is....and how important animals are...and the younger generations need to know his message...I have never seen anyone work so hard to get a message across as Steve did....we need him....I could never stand to look at snakes on t.v, I would change the channel. but Steve taught me that they are not bad creatures, and I can look at snakes now and it dosen't bother me....BRING STEVE BACK..PLEASE!!!!
educational and entertaining
Steve was the embodiment of all things good for me. He represents an almost fictional manifestation of what the essential human being should be. He lived his life for his family and his wildlife. Steve was surely one of the last of a dying breed. He will be greatly missed.
Because he has inspired me to fulfill my dreams by helping out wildlife all over Australia
because he cared about all animal and their welfare. his whole life was dedicated to wildlife and conservation.
so his message does not get lost and much like steve i to have a connection with animals
I was really scared of snakes before I started watching his show, and now I can tolerate them.
Because he truly changed the world and was a very special and unique person.
Steve was one of a kind and no one is even close!!! Please put him back on!!!!
Education, knowledge and truth of saving wildlife so our future generations will support the cause to save the wildlife and not cause it to be extinct
he was a hero to me too.
He is important to me because he is my daugther's hero.
He was a very handsome brave man. He seemed to know his stuff. He wasn't afraid to say "Look at those little babies". Do it for his fans, his wife, children and lots of other mates and where Steve still lives. He will live on in our hearts, but we still enjoy seeing him on the TV too. Please keep him with us in that respect.
Steve Irwin was important to me because he brought all sorts of animals and their plights to our attention! He was one man who put everything he had into helping wildlife - injured, orphaned, in danger of extinction. I know so much more about all of that now thanks to him. He helped me to become more conscious of the Earth and all its inhabitants. The fact that each and every animal affects the entire group of eco-systems. He helped me see the big picture. I pick up trash along the road. I recycle. I stop and help an animal in need. I am giving my money to Wildlife Warriors. All this I am doing honestly because of Steve Irwin. He's made me realize the importance of taking care of the earth. I honestly cannot say enough about how important that man was and how important his legacy IS! There are not enough words to describe it!
he showed me and many others how to love ALL animals and how special they are he took you with him where ever he was, you felt like you were right there with wrestling a crocodile, saving a snake or even just hugging a koala. he inspired the world to save our animals. MOST OF ALL HE WAS MY HERO !!!!
He was such an inspiration for everyone & I loved watching him with all the animals.
Steve is my hero. I looked up to him and still do since I was 9 years old. I'm 19 now. I have learned so much from him. My dream wasto go work with him. Now I'm opening up a zoo in his honor.
He taught my son so much about wildlife. He is my son's HERO! Let Steve LIVE ON!!! There are still lots of kids out there that can still learn from Steve!
I just adoresd him and missed almost no episode from his tv series
He was a true hero and loved wildlife and he is missed bu those who admired and considered him Bloke. a Aussie the people could be proud of!
Steve Irwin is important to me because of how much he cared about the world. He gave his life to show us how important different species of animals are. He educated the world and showed us how important conservation is. He gave love to all kinds of species of animals. He showed us what it is like to really care for our enviroment. He did this all by example. He made the world a much better place and it is important for his messages to be carried on.
Steve is my hero. He stood up for what was right and he was great at what he did. I love him very much.
cause of who he was, what he stood for and he loved nature.
Why was Steve Irwin important to you? Steve was important to us because he truely cared about wildlife and conservation. He was an inspiration to us all and even thou he has passed on he still inspires. His children Bindi and Robert along with Teri continue to carry on his message and that is very important, my kids have started being more aware of the world around them thanks in part to the Irwin family all they do.
because he was one of a kind there will never be anyone like him ever again,he drew people in and everyone knew who he was,he did a fantastic job and if all the programs that he made weren't shown that would in my oppinion be disrespectfull to him and a real waste of his talent and knowledge that he was so keen to share with everyone
His message of conservation was contagious. I would love for my son to be able to continue on with my dream of helping wildlife and their habitats, all set by the wonderful example of Steve, his family, and the zoo crew.
