Bring Steve Irwin "The Crocodile Hunter" Back to Animal Planet

Target:
DiscoveryCommunications/Animal Planet

We the undersigned are deeply saddened and upset that Animal Planet USA has decided to remove The Crocodile Hunter and all Steve Irwin shows from your lineup.  The Irwin family shows were hugely popular all in the USA and all over the world. Fans of Steve Irwin young and old and children who don't know or understand that he has passed on greatly love his shows--even knowing that they are reruns.

So many people have been inspired to help, protect and save wildlife and wild places due to the wonderful conservation message Steve Irwin brought to the Animal Planet screen.

There are still so many people out there, including young children who have never seen Steve's shows, that need to hear his wildlife conservation message.

Steve's show helped to make Animal Planet and as they said in a press release on Tuesday, September 6th 2006 quoted from their website:

"Discovery Communications is deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. Steve was beloved by millions of fans and animal lovers around the world and was one of our planet's most passionate conservationists. He has graced Animal Planet's air since October 1996 and was essential in building Animal Planet into a global brand."

Discovery Networks International President Dawn McCall, said,

"Rarely has the world embraced an animal enthusiast and conservationist as they did Steve Irwin. Steve's passion for animals and leadership in conservation awareness leaves a powerful and lasting legacy across the globe."

Outside the United States, Animal Planet is available in 160 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East with programming customized in 24 languages. --that's allot of Croc Hunter!

It is obvious that the quality programming offered by Steve Irwin and family are still very popular all over the planet so please consider bringing Steve back to Animal Planet so the world can hear, learn and be inspired by Steve's passionate message of the conservation of the wild creatures and wild places of the planet--our Animal Planet.

NOTE as of 9/9/2008: According to the Discovery Communications/Animal Planet website it appears that AP is bringing Steve Irwin The Crocodile Hunter back to TV!  WOO HOO!!

NOTE: October 09, 2008 Steve is back on AP!  I just watched an episode of the Crocodile Hunter!  Thank You Animal Planet for bringing our hero back!  I plan to keep this petition open until Steve Irwin Day on November 15.  After that date I will close the petition and send it to AP because I feel that while AP obviously realizes how important Steve has been for the success of their channel--the voice of his fans still need to be heard.

Thank you to everyone who has signed this petition and thank you to those who plan to sign.  CROCS RULE!!

Our whole family loves Steve Irwin, it's sad not to watch him at night, that's the only show my kids were allowed to watch during the school week.

He was a leader in conservation and made me a better person

I want Steve Irwin back on Animal Planet due to the fact that viewing his shows are so important to my generation/my children & grandchildren to learn the importance of all God's creation, interacting/living/learning. Through my watching his programs I have a greater understanding/desire to help conservation....whether it be animals directly or their habitat....He showed me our connection to all life!

Personally I first thought he was crazy handling snakes, crocs....but after listening/watching how much he truly loved/cared for God's creatures...my respect and admiration grew...He was amazing. Seeing how much he loved his family has also enriched my life....I have now introduced my 3 younger grandchildren to his program via dvd....they love them....are learning his message....He was/is/always will be the Wild Life Warrior we need.....

Steve Irwin is the best thing to have ever happened to TV. Even though he isnt here it doesnt mean we cant still educate people through his previous work. We need his legacy to carry on. His show was never boring and engaged people of all ages to watch it and learn so much from it. I've personally sat down with friends who hated snakes and they have watched Crocodile Hunter and it has changed their mind. It's all about understanding them and watching Crocodile Hunter makes you understand them and all other animals. He is one of the most amazing men to have ever lived and new generations need to see that even if he isn't here with us now. He is smiling down whenever someone does something to help conserve the planet and help the animals he loved so much. PLEASE put it back on.

He is my idol. His shows are like the Bible to me. I live and learn from him. Without him I wouldn't have my amazing pets. I wouldnt have chosen the path of wildlife conservation without him. The more people that see his show, the more people that are going to be inspired and the more people and going to change the world like he did. R.I.P Mate xxxx

Crocodile Hunter is the one animal show that is fun, educational and exciting to watch. Steve's pure delight in animals is evident in all of his shows and helps us to appreciate the plight of our animals. I only wish it came on at a later time. It comes on at 3:00 and I don't get home until 4:30.

Steve is important because of the message he brings about animals. His is one show our family watches together. We learn, we laugh, we are amazed and sometimes sad. Never has learning about animals been so much fun. His message is timeless. I wish I could thank him for such an amazing show.

I am 60 years old and before watching this show with Steve Irwin and his lovely family,I had never taken much time to consider our impact on this Earth. He opened new worlds of learning for me and made me want to do better towards our planet and the animals that live here among us. He was a wonderful human being and we were all lucky to have had him as long as we did. So let`s keep his message alive and keep him on Animal Planet !!!

Steve`s message is not only important to me it is important to the whole world. He made us realize we should take care of our planet, not just the animals, everything! He was a true hero and loved this planet and it`s animals greatly. He gave his life for them! What more could you ask?

He needs to be back on Animal Planet because frankly he's what made that channel what it is today. They wouldn't have as much viewers as they do now without him. He literally put his life on the line every day to do what he loved. To inform the world how to protect yourself from deadly creatures, not to be scared of all things you come across, and every animal's life is just as precious as your own. It's sad that he was removed from there just because he passed away. They rerun sitcoms that have no educational value but yet take him off. They should be ashamed.

Steve Irwin was important to me because he took you into a whole new world of animals, and creatures that you would never before have experienced. He showed you have like us humans need love and affection, animals need it just as much as we do. He was fearless, humorous, and a great inspiration to everyone who loves animals. He will surely be missed. But that doesn't mean he has to be forgotten.

This show has been great for my kids and now grandkids to watch. There are so many junk TV shows on for kids that have no real value for them. This program has made my kids much more aware of the animals in the world and what we need to do to protect them.

Steve brought the joy of taking care of wild animals into my home and into our lives. We would have never had the opportunity to see the other side of the world and all of the wonderful animals that make up our great planet. Steve was a rare person and much appreciated by my family.

The reason our whole family would love to see The Crocodile Hunter back on the Animal Planet is because it was one of our favorite shows. We were disapointed to see that it was not in the line-up. My girls are 9 and 10 years old and have not seen all the episodes. They love watching Bindi the Jungle girl now but would also love to still watch Steve in action. We were all saddened by his death and although he is gone, his show still has his message of conservation. Believe me...there aren't many shows now a days with good morales. Don't let his show go to waste.

Steve was important to our family because he showed us the important message to take care of wildlife.

I was shocked that animal planet took him off one day when I was looking for the show. He made me aware of what was going on with the animal world and our enviroment. It was the way he was that you just want to listen and keep watching his show. He needs to stay on TV. His impact on everyone is so great!! Please put The Crocodile Hunter back on we need his message to live one even though he is not here on this planet his spirit is still in our hearts and souls!!!

His honesty and the down to earth personality was so wonderful. He was so dedicated and he made me start listening to what really was going on with our world and what we need to do about conservation. He was one of us. And he showed us the big picture!! He made me feel good just watching his show and gave everyone in my family the knowledge of all animals and the balance they have on this planet. You wanted to listen to him. There is only one Steve Irwin and no one could get the word out and make you want to listen but him!!! NO ONE CAN REPLACE HIM!! KEEP HIS SHOW ON....KEEP HIS MESSAGE GOING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION!!

He's so much fun to watch. There are so many people who haven't seen his shows and could be insipired by them to help save wildlife. I would be really sad if you took off his shows.

He was so passonate about wildlife. His enthusiasim came right through. You could see that he really cared about wildlife. It wasn't fake. Furthermore I was greatly insipired by him. I didn't like crocodiles or snakes before I started to watch him. But now I love them!! He really taught everybody to love all wildlife and the world is a worse off without him.

I very seldom watch Animal Planet any longer. The shows they have on or have had on are poor -- Dog groomers (poor taste with that), ASPCA keep it at 10:00 pm. Why are you putting that on at 8:00. The show where the woman is correcting a dogs behavior ---please she goes a bit far with some of the animals various reactions to certain things (I am sure you know what I mean). My list is endless of the poor quality shows. Children and adults as myself want to learn and help animals in the wild. We want to understand the importance of fresh water and green grass - why we need a rain forest. How can we live in harmony with nature -- please give us back Steve Irwin and Jim Corbin -- where did these shows go???? These shows showed us nature and families that work together.

Why was Steve Irwin important to me. Steve was an honest and fun person to watch. He entertain as well as explained everything from a bee sting to a croc bite. After watching his shows you felt that you were as important to the wild life as he was. You understood and respected all animals!!!!

Steve Irwin was a hero to every animal in the world.

If there were more people like Steve Irwin in this world, it just might be a better place to live for animals as well as people. He taught people more in his short life than anyone i know.

Does anyone even have to ask that question? He was wonderful. He drew you right into the scene with him. Also, we got to go behind scenes & see things no one else ever saw. A team working together.

He was important because he was a true person. Not like some of these people you see that will say anything to get what they want. His word, he was man enough to back up. He & Terri are a team, and always will be.

Dear Animal Planet I purchase through star choice the package that has animal planet in it for the wild life show of Steve Irwin . Both my children like to watch the shows. They are educational and make my children kinder and more enviromentaly friendly. I would like to see the shows broadcast on sat and sundays when the children are able to watch them.

Steve was and still is very important to my family. Through his wildlife message my children and there children will be kinder and more enviromentaly friendly .

why not? he made Animal Planet what it is today, and now they take him off..shame on you! He was part of my everyday life, I watched him EVERYDAY...I was having WITHDRAWS....I was so mad, I could of taken out all my t.v's and I never watched Animal Planet after that. I hope Animal Planet gets smart and brings Steve back...there are a lot of angry people out there that I know have stopped watching ANimal Planet. Just because he is gone in body...we still love him and want to see him and hear his voice....it was silenced when he died , that was hard enough, but to take him off the t.v so we can't hear his voice and see him is terrible. Give us still grieving fans ..our Steveo back..so we can have some comfort here.

Because he was everything good....he didn't smoke, he didn't drink, he didn't run around on Terri, I don't think he even watched t.v!!! he saved animals and their enviroment, he was teaching us how important our enviroment is....and how important animals are...and the younger generations need to know his message...I have never seen anyone work so hard to get a message across as Steve did....we need him....I could never stand to look at snakes on t.v, I would change the channel. but Steve taught me that they are not bad creatures, and I can look at snakes now and it dosen't bother me....BRING STEVE BACK..PLEASE!!!!

Steve's show inspired me to become an active Wildlife Warrior. Steve had an aura that presented itself in his shows and flowed through the television to viewers worldwide. No other person has influenced me in such a way as Steve Irwin, and I never even met the guy. Someone who has such a lasting and positive affect on people should by NO means be taken off the air. What bugs me to all hell is that there are shows displaying disturbing violence, that have no moral value whatsoever being played, yet a man with a gift and an undying passion for animals whose message can save our wildlife gets the boot. This is surely a sad world we live in.

Steve was the embodiment of all things good for me. He represents an almost fictional manifestation of what the essential human being should be. He lived his life for his family and his wildlife. Steve was surely one of the last of a dying breed. He will be greatly missed.

It deals with knowledge that is truthfully and educational for myself and for all children & adults in the world. He was and still is a very loving caring father and animal protector and will always be missed, but by placing his so much loved programs back on tv for the world to see would be a godsend.

Education, knowledge and truth of saving wildlife so our future generations will support the cause to save the wildlife and not cause it to be extinct

I believe he would enjoy teaching on. Just reruns is OK. Or let Bendi and/or Terry and the boy take over. I would like to keep his memory alive. He earned a spot on this earth with all the other creatures. He inspired many wildlife warriors. He was a true American hero! With a heart, and it showed in every episode.

He was a very handsome brave man. He seemed to know his stuff. He wasn't afraid to say "Look at those little babies". Do it for his fans, his wife, children and lots of other mates and where Steve still lives. He will live on in our hearts, but we still enjoy seeing him on the TV too. Please keep him with us in that respect.

Please put the Crocodile Hunter series back on the air! Not only are many of us huge Steve Irwin fans, but we also love watching to show support for his family! I don't mind saying there isn't any one person that has done as much for animals and conservation as Steve. His enthusiasm was infectious and we only were able to get that message through Animal Planet. There are new subscribers to that channel all the time. They should have the opportunity to learn about this great man and all he stood for. Our planet has benefited greatly having had him even for such a short while. And we're all better off having access to his programs to share enthusiasm and education in conserving wildlife and habitat.

Steve Irwin was important to me because he brought all sorts of animals and their plights to our attention! He was one man who put everything he had into helping wildlife - injured, orphaned, in danger of extinction. I know so much more about all of that now thanks to him. He helped me to become more conscious of the Earth and all its inhabitants. The fact that each and every animal affects the entire group of eco-systems. He helped me see the big picture. I pick up trash along the road. I recycle. I stop and help an animal in need. I am giving my money to Wildlife Warriors. All this I am doing honestly because of Steve Irwin. He's made me realize the importance of taking care of the earth. I honestly cannot say enough about how important that man was and how important his legacy IS! There are not enough words to describe it!

he showed me and many others how to love ALL animals and how special they are he took you with him where ever he was, you felt like you were right there with wrestling a crocodile, saving a snake or even just hugging a koala. he inspired the world to save our animals. MOST OF ALL HE WAS MY HERO !!!!

Steve has soooo much enthusiasm and passion. And he brought it too us through television. Personally I stopped watching animal planet because of the fact that I only watched it to learn what my hero wanted me to. And knowing I won't see him on tv angers me. He is physically gone. But his spirits will carry on forever. So why take him off tv?

Steve is my hero. I looked up to him and still do since I was 9 years old. I'm 19 now. I have learned so much from him. My dream wasto go work with him. Now I'm opening up a zoo in his honor.

Steve Irwin had a way to keep children (and adults) attention with his excitement about wildlife. Everybody enjoyed watching reruns......BRING IT BACK!!!

He taught my son so much about wildlife. He is my son's HERO! Let Steve LIVE ON!!! There are still lots of kids out there that can still learn from Steve!

I want Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter, back on Animal Planet because his shows really teach us about conservation. He shows us so many animals that we really don't know much about or understand. Through his wisdom and courage we are brought to know and love many different species. I believe that his program has changed so many lives and made the world a better place. I actually just subscribed to cable t.v. last year and the main reason was to see the reruns of The Crocodile Hunter. Please return his show to your listing.

Steve Irwin is important to me because of how much he cared about the world. He gave his life to show us how important different species of animals are. He educated the world and showed us how important conservation is. He gave love to all kinds of species of animals. He showed us what it is like to really care for our enviroment. He did this all by example. He made the world a much better place and it is important for his messages to be carried on.

Animal planet would not be here today as it is without the Irwins. Steve and Terri built a legacy on Animal Planet, the channel should at least honor them.

Steve is my hero. He stood up for what was right and he was great at what he did. I love him very much.

Why do you want Steve Irwin back on Animal Planet? My kids and i loved watching the Irwins, they are educational and down to earth unlike some of things you see on TV these days. Plese put all the shows back on. Thank you

Why was Steve Irwin important to you? Steve was important to us because he truely cared about wildlife and conservation. He was an inspiration to us all and even thou he has passed on he still inspires. His children Bindi and Robert along with Teri continue to carry on his message and that is very important, my kids have started being more aware of the world around them thanks in part to the Irwin family all they do.

because he was simply brilliant i used to hate watching wildlife programs but he made them so well and was so enthusiatic in what he was doing i grew to love them.

because he was one of a kind there will never be anyone like him ever again,he drew people in and everyone knew who he was,he did a fantastic job and if all the programs that he made weren't shown that would in my oppinion be disrespectfull to him and a real waste of his talent and knowledge that he was so keen to share with everyone

It was a tradition for me and my son. After work, I would pick him up from school and we would go home to watch. We both enjoyed the shows very much and were very saddened to see they took them off the air. As of now, it looks like they have heard our cries, but unfortunately they are going to put the show on at 3:00, eastern time. This does myself, my son, and a lot of other people no good. Please put it back on prime time for all to enjoy...maybe weekends too.

His message of conservation was contagious. I would love for my son to be able to continue on with my dream of helping wildlife and their habitats, all set by the wonderful example of Steve, his family, and the zoo crew.
