PUT THE PROTECTION ORDER BACK ON NEW ZEALANDS UNIQUE HERD OF WILD HORSES. THE KAIMANAWA WILD HORSE

The Kaimanawa Horse Breed Society and the Kaimanawa Wild Horse Preservation Society would like to petition the House of Representatives to put the protection order back on the Kaimanawa Wild Horses.

With 300 horses or less left in the Kaimanawa ranges we could lose them if we have a bad winter or breeding season. DoC did promise 500, so how many more promises are they going to break?

Round ups have been going on yearly since 1993 with horses finding homes or going to the meat works. They are also fair game.

The Kaimanawa Wild Horses have been roaming the Central Plateau since 1864 and were first introduced in 1814 by Samuel Marsden.

This is New Zealands herd of unique wild horses and they have proven to be of a very quiet nature and make perfect riding ponies.

The future of New Zealandss own wild horses is on the threshold of being wiped out.

The Protection order will give the Kaimanawa horses some sense of security and DoC and Co will have to adhere to the 300 and not reduce the herd further.

Please sign our petition to put the protection order back on before we lose our precious and unique Kaimanawa Wild Horses..

We the undersigned wish to petition the Conservation Minsiter, and the House of Representatives of New Zealand  to put the protection order back on the Kaimanawa Wild Horses before they are wiped out. For more information on the horses please go to www.kaimanawa.com.

We thank you for your time in reading this.
