Repeal the U.S.A. Patriot Act

Repeal the U.S.A. Patriot Act

Target:
Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi
Sponsored by:
On October 26, 2001, in a knee-jerk response to the events of September 11, the U.S.A. Patriot Act was signed into law. This regrettable piece of legislation gives the government the power to search telephone, e-mail, medical and financial records without a court order and without any meaningful oversight.

This law is an affront to our civil rights and is fundamentally un-American. Moreover, surrendering our civil liberties does not make America safer. We are asking the Congress to repeal the U.S.A. Patriot Act effective immediately.

We the undersigned are requesting repeal of the U.S.A. Patriot Act signed into law on October 26, 2001. This law goes too far, allowing the government unprecedented powers to search the telephone, e-mail, medical and financial records of law-abiding American citizens under the guise of protecting America from terrorism.

This law is un-American and it weakens us as a nation. Moreover, it is a violation of our basic civil liberties. We urge you to repeal this law as soon as possible.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this letter.

I am a prior enlisted military person and I served my country for the purpose of keeping our liberties as my father did. The concern of terrorism is a front to limit our freedoms. I say LIMIT the powers of CONGRESS. We represent the public opinion not the few in politics. VOTE for keeping your freedoms and if your Congressmen/women won't uphold the Constitution do a RECALL on them. FREEDOM to the people of the United States. We are giving Congress too much say when it comes to our freedoms. GET ANGRY PEOPLE. The media is not telling you everything you need to hear, they are only telling you what you want to hear. I did not hear of this AMERO or about this NATIONAL ID through the media but through YOUTUBE.COM. What does that tell you? WE are being left in the dark while they meet secretly to tell us about these new laws when it is too late. I am a caring, loving AMERICAN not a supposed, made up TERRORIST. Congress your days of using the FEAR FACTOR are over. WARS do not accomplish diplomacy. Being diplomatic accomplishes diplomacy. WE are not hate mongers or war mongers here in the USA. We are educated, civilized humans wanting the same rights that we had eight years ago before the Bush administration. We don't want any more blood shed. You have blood on your hands Congress whether or not you allowed Bush to deploy troops without a FORMAL Declaration of WAR. You did not want to take responsibility so you turned a blind eye to the situation, but YOU ALL still have blood on your hands. You allowed us to invade a NATION that did not invade us nor ATTACK us. And now you want to limit our freedoms. What did the law abiding citizens of this country do to deserve such limitations? NOTHING. You contrived this FEAR so we would comply like little sheep. GOD save your souls.

I think this is an outrage when Americans have to be watched and put through things that are an affront to our civil rights. This is a outragous piece of legislation created at a time of fear and panic and it should be repealed at once.

I think the US government has lost it's way. The American people no longer have the rights guaranteed to them. Soon it will be "1984" and the books will be burning.

The U.S., kidnapping and torturing and taking away people's identities. Such an evil country.

The USA PATRIOT Act is in clear violation of the Bill of Rights of the Constitution--hence, it is an _illegal_ law. Enough said.

The Patriot Act has allowed Cheney and Bush to crown themselves Dictators, answerable to NO ONE. They have trashed the Constitution and The Bill of Rights, told endless lies to needlessly attack Iraq. If not stopped , they will instigate an attack on Iran. The Dixie Chicks caught on LONG before most of the country: This administration is a disgrace to every citizen who believes in the principals the USA has, until January of 2000, stood for.
