Recycling-Make it a Federal Law

Target:
Representative DeGeeter and Senator Miller
Sponsored by:

Passing a federal law to make recycling mandatory is the first step to achieving zero waste and establishing a recycling based economy. To accomplish this, attitudes and beliefs need to shift from a linear to cyclical process. A recycling based economy ensures that resources remain sustainable, energy is efficiently used, and waste from one product becomes an input for another. To be successful in business, one must increase efficiency and minimize cost. To preserve our natural resources and protect life on this planet we must do the same. We can meet the needs of today without negatively affecting the needs of tomorrow. As Americans, we can no longer accept that the problem is out there and maintain a throw away attitude. Together we can improve the quality of life for all living creatures left on this planet, but it must begin with one law. Please support this effort to make recycling a federal law and help America become part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

We the undersigned, believe passing a federal law to make recycling mandatory is the first step to achieving zero waste and establishing a recycling based economy. The following citizens strongly urge you to present to Congress a bill for consideration to make recycling a federal law and help America become part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

I'm 14 years old and care about my enviroment but don't always know what to do or even where to do it. I know what we do today affects what we do tommorow, so I know if I throw that wrapper on the ground that tommorow that could be that one more wrapper that caused us to go completely downhill. So that's why my mom and I went searching on the How To to make recycling mandatory and illegal if it's not done. Even now, what YOU do affects MY future. ~Cassy~

The district I live in now recycles, however, it would be so much nicer if the schools (public, private, and colleges) workplaces, ect, recycled. Every day I see so much waste!

In order to ensure a level of comfort for our children, everyone must take stock in America and recycle. The world still looks to America for new ideas and solutions. Let us continue to lead the way and show the world that the United States of America is united in recycling.

We have an overabundance of recyclable garbage filling our landfills. We, as adults, need to take action to protect Mother Earth for our future generations to live in a healthy environment.

Let's participate even before it's a mandated law. Everyone join in!

I grew up in San Jose, CA which had a recycle program. It is crazy to see the allot of the Denver Metro area with no such program. This is needed.

Not sure if making recycling a federal law is the answer, the federal government already has too many unenforceable laws on the books! It can't hurt to sign it though, unless there are recycling nazis that go through my trash and give me a ticket for that glass bottle I mistakenly threw in the trash. Hope that wouldn't happen and we can clean up our earth!

Recently Jones Co N.C. stopped it's recycling program because it was too expensive. I believe it should be made a Federal Law for all citizens in the U S A to recycle. If we don't do something soon all our communities will be surrounded by landfills and contaminated water sources. Coastal Carolina is beautiful and we must respect that beauty and do our part to keep it that way.If we in the United States, the most advance country in the world, do not do our part how can we expect other nations to do so?

I'm no tree hugger (to say the least), but this is one issue I feel could really make an impact on our world. If the government can pass laws that require us to wear seat belts, then why not recycling? Absolute Ignorance!

MAKE RECYCLING A FEDERAL LAW. IT IS IGNORANT TO RAPE THE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE ON TIME USE OF A PRODUCT!! LAND FILL SPACES COULD BE PARKS FOR CHILDREN AND WILDLIFE TO SHARE!

we have no recycling facilities in the town where I live! I'm trying to find out how I can make a difference in my community! So far I haven't had any luck. I came here with a vehicle I ran on recycled vegetable oil and when I asked for used veg. oil around town I got a horrible response! I ended up having to get rid of my car because it was more fuel efficient to get a toyota. anyway I need help! I want my community to recycle! We are in the desert and I know so many people drink bottled water. I once read an ad for a company who sent you bags to send them your used plastic bottles so they could make school bags out of them. I think that's a fantastic idea! I wish to know how to get in touch with such a company but I have had no luck finding such a resource now??????? Help! Also plastic shopping bags. My town is littered with them everywhere. How can I recycle them too.
