stop pet discrimination

Target:
Rep. Scott White
Sponsored by:

There are laws that do not allow landlords and real estate agencies to discriminate against possible renters. Most families include their pets as family members.
In order to significantly reduce pet abandonment, overpopulation in shelters and unnecessary trauma to the family, it should be illegal to discriminate or not to allow licensed pets into new rental agreements.

In order to significantly reduce pet abandonment, overpopulation in shelters and unnecessary trauma to the family, it should be illegal to discriminate or not to allow licensed pets into new rental agreements.
We the undersigned, ask that you look into reducing animal abandonment, ease the load for animal shelters and help families stay together with their  pets upon the already stressful time of moving into a new rental unit, through making it unlawful to discriminate families with pets, as they often need to decide between having a home in a timely matter or giving up their licensed pet/s, with all the trauma this brings, as when it comes to retirement rentals, where many elderly people only have their cat or dog as company.

Pets are viewed by many pet owners as part of the family. Prohibiting pets severely reduces the number of housing options for my family.

Feel free to charge an additional pet rental rate and/or to require a special pet deposit, but please do not outright prohibit all pets.

Let's make this planet a better place for all animals by allowing them to stay with their families.

Please, land lords, let pets stay with their families! You can charge a little extra in the security deposit & in the monthly rent in case the carpet or something is damaged to replace it. Responsible owners will take care of their pets & you won't have to worry about it.

I would like to see less home less pets in the world & if land lords would let tenants rent that have pets this would help a lot!

Stop unnecessary pain and suffering for us and our best friends.

Would you like to see less pets on the road and in cages?

It is not only discrimination, it is significantly helping the pet abandonment rate. These pets belong with their families, no matter where they live.
