Reggie, Please Don't Come Out Of Retirement

Reggie, with news that you're considering a return to the NBA as a member of the Boston Celtics, the millions of Pacer fans around the world felt the need to take action. You weren't just our hero for the eighteen years you played in blue-and-gold, but for the last two years as a member of the TNT team as well.

Fans have named their children after you, bought countless jerseys and made the trip from thousands of miles away to see you play in Indiana. While we understand that you still feel you can play basketball at a competitive level and that you'd love a chance to play for a ring one more time - it would simply hurt us all too much.

Call us selfish, but it would feel like a slap in the face from the man we all hold with such high esteem.  One of the many reasons we grew to love you was because you never chased a ring as an active player, in fact you bashed guys like Karl Malone and Gary Payton who bounced around in search of a title.

How could you go back on your word? ESPN is reporting that you've been calling friends and family asking them whether or not you should take Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers up on their offer. We feel our voice should be heard as well.

Here is just a small representation of your worldwide fan base...
Reggie,

Please consider our opinion on you joining the Celtics, for what it's worth. Regardless of your decision you'll always be a Pacer in our hearts, but please don't sign on to wear any jersey other than that of the Indiana Pacers.

Remember, you are a Hoosier.
