Remembering the Busby Babes

Remembering the Busby Babes

Target:
No sponsors or corparations getting involved

Manchester United have decided to allow AIG corporate branding alongside the wonderful Busby Babes picture that has been put up on the front of the East Stand at Old Trafford in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster. We, the undersigned, think it is appalling that AIG is trying to gain a commercial advantage by associating its logo with the anniversary of the tragedy, and believe this will only prove to be very bad P.R. for the company. We urge you to remove the logo as soon as possible in respect for those who lost their lives at Munich.

This terrible tragedy remains with all generations of United fans, and to see the logo of a sponsor who has nothing to do with Munich or our history causes further distance between ourselves and our club. We are disappointed with the club that they would use sponsors to highlight and publicise the Munich anniversary.

We as fans are asking the club to remove all sponsor branding, and ensure that no companies cash in on the 50th anniversary of Munich, which should be the sole preserve of the club, the fans and the families of those who perished and survived.

When the club see the Munich disaster as a way of increasing revenue then it hits home how low the club will stoop. The Glazers care nothing for the history of our club, except if it means it can in someway help pay their debts

This is a small thing for all their families. They were such good players. They will always be in the heart of the United supporters, old or young.

Out of respect to the Busby Babes and their famalies, why do we need a logo that has no great significance to that particular day.

This is about people who were around 50 years ago who suffered a terrible tragedy. It is a time to remember them and the fact they lost their lives representing Manchester United Football Club and respecting them and their families. It is certainly not an event to promote a company and try to get their name splashed all over a respectful event that has nothing to do with cooperate sponsership. It is a disgraceful and disrespectful act of shameless publicity from a company trying to put their name to a team they have only just heard about in the last 18 months. It has nothing to do with AIG and never will. This is about Manchester United and the fans, if AIG just want to show their resoect then I believe they can do this without branding their logo all over it.

AIG wrote to me after I asked them to remove their banner saying they have the blessing of the Busby family. I don't believe them. It is there to advertise AIG, plain and simple. Hence making money out of the tragedy. It's wrong! End of!

Why does AIG want to brand itself to such a tragedy? This is a time of mourning not a time to go buy insurance. AIG your a very lucrative sponsor, but you should take a very far step back from branding this tragedy. It will poorly reflect upon the company, because you as a company shouldnt under any circumstances try to profit from these brave men who died in Munich. STAY AWAY FROM THE BUSBY BABES AIG!!! I WILL CANCEL MY POLICY WITH YOU IF YOU DO
