Could you imagine being BANNED from a website simply for your religious beliefs?  Well that is exactly what happened to WolfSpirit292 and NiteWolf69 (website usernames used for privacy) who are both practicing Wiccans.

PoliceLink.com (a sub-site of the popular Monster.com) is a site for LEO's and Non-LEO's to network, and keep up to date with related news and equipment- any supporters or spouses of law enforcement are welcome as well.  (LEO stands for Law Enforcement Officer)

2 weeks previous to the incident (the morning of March 29, 2009), WolfSpirit292 had created a "Pagan LEO and Non-LEO" group.  There is a specific section in groups on the site that is called "religion and policing."  Well, the ADMIN of PoliceLink- "TheSarge"- contacted WolfSpirit292 and the following conversation took place (screenshots of this conversation as well as her profile were taken before the ban took place):

Sarge: Your pagan group will not work here.

It has been removed.

WolfSpirit292: Why? There's a religious section for groups...

Sarge: Suffice it to say ...

It will not work here.
Any other questions?

WolfSpirit292: Oook, I'm confused... Why won't it work if there's a religious section?

Sarge: I am not obligated to offer you a reason.

Get over it and move on.

WolfSpirit292: Umm, yeah, I think I deserve a reason to know WHY a group of mine was deleted. Saying "it won't work here" is NOT a valid reason. Why cause we're PAGAN? If there can be a ton of Christian groups for networking and discussion, we should be allowed a place too. And if that's the only reason... which I have to assume since you won't give me a strait answer... then I think we've quite the problem.

Sarge: Goodbye. This is a LEO site. Try someplace else..... Your pathetic stomping of feet deserves no response.

WolfSpirit292: Yeah... I didn't stomp my feet or act immaturly. I asked a SIMPLE question. If you can't provide an answer like an adult than you're the one acting like the child. This isn't second grade. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you get to just go and delete it. And I DESERVE a reason to know why my group was deleted. Could you even give me a vaild reason why it is deleted now? You know it IS possiable to be polite and answer a question... And I'm sure under terms of service somewhere admins are obligated to give reasons for deleting groups and such.

Sarge: Sorry, you don't deserve nothing.

It's because I am removing you .... one piece at a time....

And, again, your playground interpretation of the TOU is lacking.

Go back to MySpace, or PaganSpace or where ever you come from....

Sarge (again): And ,.... poof.....you're gone.

At exactly 15 minutes after the hour.....

Goodbye....

(((And then her profile was still there but her picture was removed and she was "temporarily banned" from the site when she tried to re-log in.))

Later that afternoon, after NiteWolf69 sent Sarge a message of protest (also captured on screenshot).  Both WolfSpirit292 and NiteWolf69's accounts were deleted and they were permanently removed from the site.

This came about out of the clear blue sky and is completely uncalled for.  It's disgusting that people are banned from a site that could further their careers because the Admin doesn't like their choice in religion!

Help fight back against this injustice!  Sign the petition to Monster.com, Inc and the website PoliceLink.com and tell them to remove the Administrator "Sarge" for discriminating against the site's members based on religion!  Sign and pass on please!
