I am bisexual and believe in rights for any man, woman, transgendered human especially in terms of love.
As a gay american I am highly offended that I would be considered worse than a terrorists, I pay my taxes and have raised my children in Oklahoma, If the house is so worried about me and what goes on in my bedroom then give me my tax money back! I have a clean record and am a valued employee please don't touch me with your bigotry.
If gay americans are not valued in this state what percentage of the population do you think you would loose? As a tax payer and citizen I do not feel that my best interest are being meet by these statements. I plan on leaving this state when I am out of school. this intollerance is being watched by the rest of the world, one day you all will wake up and wonder where the beauty is. Who do you think teaches your children art, music, does your wifes flowers and nails?

Because if my son/ daughter were gay I would not like them to hear such ignorant and hateful things. My child is not a terrorist. Neither am I. I am not unpatriotic because I don't believe ignorant comments by someone with their head buried in the sand. We as a country need to keep religion out of politics and politics out of religion. That is the way our Christian Fathers founded the country.

As a mother and a college professor, I am horrified that this kind of hatred exists in the upper levels of our government. I hope the voters and citizens of this country speak up against this kind of intolerance.

This woman is clearly mentally imbalanced, and needs to be removed from a position of power immediately. To state flatly, and with all sincerity, that homosexuals are more damaging than any fundamentalist terrorist is a complete falsehood, and something I have only heard from hate mongers like Fred Phelps and the Iranian President. Regardless of how any Christian person may feel about homosexuality, they have absolutely no right to promote this kind of hate. Even the First Amendment can't protect against something like this, as it clearly could lead to homosexual individuals being harmed in the same fashion as poor Matthew Shepard. We have to stop this hate at its source by standing up for the rights of ALL American citizens.
I've been out to my mother since I was in 8th grade. I'm now 21. I'm an honors student at my college in the business management department. I'm a singer, and talented with the arts. I've been awarded many scholarships for my grade point average and work on campus for the GLBTQ students, staff and faculty. I'm the president of the Gay straight alliance at our college. Sally clearly doesn't understand being gay is only one part of you. Just like any other human being, we are talented, smart, useful. Some aren't but same goes for some heterosexuals. Sally also doesn't understand that we should be teaching our children about sexual orientation because ignoring it fosters hate and/or ignorance later on in their lives. If schools stopped being heteronormative when kids got older it wouldn't be such a shock to see a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered person. To compare us to terrorists does more harm than the so called harm GLBTQ people cause. We need representatives who are going to stand by all diverse people. Who are going to not just tolerate but understand and accept! We can not have representatives in offices and high positions who foster hate, again something so much more harmful, than people being attracted to others of the same sex.
This issue is important to me because I believe that all people in this nation and the world for that matter should not be discriminated against due to sexual orientation, race, or religion. This pretetious woman has insulted millions of people from all around the world.
This woman needs to be removed from office. Her views are her own, however, she is a government official and needs not to descriminate against anyone. This nation and world needs to concentrate on feeding the hungry, wiping out diseases that could easily be irradicated, and cutting carbon emmissions rather than looking down on people because they are different from the norm. Who cares what religion, race or sexual prefference a person has??? It should not matter. This woman has proven herself racist, homophobic, and a hypocritical christian. I am in Oklahoma, it is bad enough that people see us as rustic, close minded hicks, keeping this woman in office after such a disgraceful statement proves that.
I cannot believe that this person has been allowed to keep her position, and I cannot believe her bigotry went unnoticed until now. There was a time when females were not allowed into politics. Times have changed. I cannot fathom how someone whose sex has been descrimintated against throughout history, can continue this chain of abuse. There was a time when we females were also feared as we were receiving rights long over due.

These folks are not a threat based on their sexual preferance. Seems to me someone is basing their opinion on their own fears, and creating facts to fit that opinion. I cannot even begin to understand the level of ignorance that Sally Kern is preaching to the world. As a young gay man I find Kernīs "facts" about homosexuality offensive and downright grotesque. I am a loving, caring human being and I wish no harm to anyone - but Sally Kern thinks I am more evil than a fundamental terrorist. How can anyone be so delusional and out of touch on reality? And, more importantly, how come people like Sally Kern think they have the right to use christianity as a tool to spread a message of hatred and bigotry - a message that has nothing to do with the true meaning of christianity: love and acceptance. I am so thankful to be living in a country (Finland) that allows me to be who I was born to be. Maybe someday this will also be true in America.

I have a homosexual daughter and she is an amazing person. The thought that she might be in anyway a threat to anyone is insane. She is a hard working tax payer as is her partner, oh and they both vote.

The meaning of "democracy" is NOT the right of the majority to oppress the minority, but rather the right of the minority to have the same freedoms, voice, protection, and civility as the majority. Such fear-mongering and scapegoating is a) indicative of a small-minded and severely inhibited individual, and for that reason I pity Ms. Kerns; b) an abomination as a political practice or tactic, particularly in what is purportedly a democracy founded upon certain inalienable rights of all citizens, and for that reason I find Ms. Kerns profoundly dangerous; and c) perversely (and ironically) far from the behaviour and outlook of the founder of the religion Ms. Kerns claims to be upholding, and for that reason I hope not only the queer and supportive community, and not only what Ms. Haney calls 'the majority of Oklahomans,' but also anyone who knows what it truly means to be a Christian will stand up against the destructive comments this woman has made. She, perhaps unwittingly and perhaps even with good (albeit misguided) intentions, has displayed what is ugliest in this country.

I'm a gay man living in America and hearing Sally Kerns talk about homosexuals made me laugh. Words like that don't really affect me but may seriously impact other gay individuals. Sally and any other politician can say whatever they want because I know how America works and gays will eventually be given all the same rights and benefits as straight people.
All I have to say is thank God I came from an educated background and not some backwards hick place like Oklahoma. People with education, I've observed, tend to do positive things for the community as a whole. Sally demonstrated her lack education of queer people by trying to stereotype them. Not to mention anyone who takes the time to bash anyone has low self-esteem and is unsure of the world around them. Well, I'm happy with my position in life and watching Bush's "Federal Marriage Amendment" get shot down as well as the increasing laws to support gays in the U.S. and abroad reconfirms I will get my way. I'm from Oklahoma, and at no point, ever in my life will I allow someone this ignorant to represent me. Our nation should never allow any kind of bigot to make decisions in the name of its peoples. The Constitution was not created by our forefathers so that one individual representing many could pick which people to be protected by its laws.
This issue is important to me because hate speech is dangerous; I have gay friends, family members, and acquaintances who are all wonderful people that deserve the same rights and level of respect as any other human being.
Hate speech such as that from Sally Kerns is reprehensible and should never be allowed or tolerated in a public servant. Her job is to serve the public and her hate speech is dangerous, promotes hatred of gays, and is a testiment to her ignorance and bigotry. People who think and behave like Sally Kerns should not be holding public office as they do not truly represent the people nor do they promote the public good.
I can not even begin to understand where Ms. Kerns was coming from when she said that homosexuals are worse than terrorists! Name me one homosexual who has killed hundreds of people just to see them die. This woman should not only loose her job she should be forced to watch videos of people being tortured by terrorists for hours just so she can begin to understand what she was saying! I think she is a terroist herself!!

I don't know what is more upsetting - the fact that a person can be so discriminatively misguided about her fellow human beings, or the fact that she can think she is doing the right thing in promoting hatred and social segregation. The fact that Sally Kern believes homosexuality is the "death knell" of American society would be laughable if it weren't so tragic. It seems to me that the role of death knell is - at present - fulfilled quite perfectly by her own sentiment, and if it weren't for outdated and insensitive views such as hers, the USA (and all other countries) would enjoy much healthier, happier and stronger societies. Miss Kern - if you really wanted to do something to help our "indoctrinated 2 year olds" then maybe you would promote a little love and compassion? Or - alternatively - just stand down and spare people worldwide the suffering of having to listen to your sickening discrimination.
