Dear Mayor Newsom and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors
The proposed budget cuts to Substance Abuse, Mental Health, and HIV/AIDS Services will have a devastating, and disproportional effect, on the lives of LGBTQQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex) people in the San Francisco community. We urge you to consider the well-being of our communities and reinstate this important funding!

The city and county of San Francisco is currently unable to provide adequate mental health and substance abuse services. With an increasing population of potential clients and decreased funding, the result will be an even sicker population that will have a detrimental effect on our community.

As a transgendered woman from out of the area, each week I tackle the four hour round trip to get to and from New Leaf. Once there, I happily pay for the services they offer. Why? Because New Leaf offers services for the LGBTQQI community that are simply unmatched. Others attending New Leaf are not as fortunate as I, and cannot afford to pay. These services are invaluable, and for the less fortunate, it would be a devastating loss should New Leaf close it's doors or scale back it's services. Many people that I meet at New Leaf have few positive social encounters outside of the New Leaf setting. This is a place for the LGBTQQI community to come for help, safety, and healing. Please keep the doors to this wonderful service wide open, or watch as the disenfranchised lose ground in their ongoing struggle for health and safety.

Please support those in the LGBTQQI community who are affected by lack of health care in so many ways.

Our city's LGBTQ community needs these services to maintain the health of those who cannot afford it. New Leaf's services also prevent at-risk individuals from sinking into more serious and more costly difficulties. Reinstate this funding immediately!

If we don't spend money on preventative measures for mental health, the city will spend more money in the long run in pain and suffering. We need programs like New Leaf in this community. I work in San Francisco and care about the well-being of the people who live there.

So many programs are being eliminated. Please do not let the valuable services of New Leaf be cut back. There are few places left for those in need to turn to!

It is astonishing to think in with the increased awarness of the needs of this population, that cuts would be considered. This is a public health imperative. Please restore the cuts!

I have personally received services from New Leaf during my greatest hour of need, and I don't know what would have become of me without them. Please continue to fund this worthy organization.
