Restore MSG to Time Warner Cable

  • by: Time Warner Cable subscribers
  • recipient: Glenn A. Britt, Chairman and CEO of Time Warner Cable; James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman of Madison Square Garden, Inc.; and Businesses who advertise on MSG Network programs
Consumers deserve better than to be cheated out of promised programming by a corporate dispute.  MSG should be restored to Time Warner Cable as a matter of basic consumer fairness.

We the undersigned:

1) request that Time Warner Cable refund cable subscribers for the loss of access to MSG and MSG Plus in a monthly amount equal to comparable premium sports channels until MSG is restored, and we request that you allow any subscriber under contract as of January 1, 2012 to cancel without penalty until MSG is restored.

This request is entirely reasonable in light of Time Warner's repeated marketing promise, relied upon by subscribers but now broken, to provide all games of all area sports teams.

2) request that Madison Square Garden, Inc. provide its sports programming to Time Warner Cable while a new programming contract is being negotiated.

3) urge businesses to pull advertising from MSG Network channels until MSG programs return to Time Warner Cable or risk a product boycott in the near future.

Consumers of sports entertainment enrich media companies.  Without fans there would be neither sports channels nor sports profits.  Yet many area fans are on the losing end of this petty dispute, left feeling abused and cheated.

We encourage MSG and TWC to resolve their differences and restore MSG to the millions of local sports fans currently cut off yet paying the same amount for cable service.
