REVISE FREE ENTERPRISE

Target:
CITY OF BUFFALO, NY
Sponsored by:

The recent evidence of the revitalization of Buffalo, NY also creates a need of a revised mobile vendor permit process that does not limit the ability of entrepreneurship while respecting the stationary vendor.

Therefore, we, the undersigned request the City of Buffalo to amend and update the current process.

We ask for the elimination of multiple permits to an affordable business-building citywide fee process that is valid on all public land eliminating restrictions by third parties not affiliated with city government.

While we recognize the need for competition we are also respectful of stationary vendors to assure their incomes are not compromised.  Therefore, we would suggest a minimum boundary measurement around special events, private events and private property that provides that assurance to the stationary vendor, but does not inhibit the economic viability of the mobile vendor.

By amending the current permit process, Buffalo, NY will also generate a foundation of entrepreneurship that will add to the color and fabric of the community-at-large.  This effort will generate a new trust and faith for youth and other small economic development endeavors, craft a visual compliment to our city and its ever-growing tourism, all while stimulating our local economy.

The City Of Buffalo needs to encourage enterprising, hard working young men & women like the IceCream Cycle guy who is a benefit to our Community. Why wouldn't we all want to support him??? Something's very wrong when someone is confronted with so many obstacles to simply wanting to pursue the American Dream. Since when does wanting to make a creative & honest business thrive, have to be subject to such unfair red tape?

This is great! It gives our creative young people a venue to make money selling their own creations, self employment and increase self pride. Thanks I am going to pass this on.

For example, James the ice creamcycle guy is very professional and safe in his business, he is a true example of the kind of vendors and ambitious people that have been LEAVING this city, but he instead embraces us and we enjoy the service he provides. Let him keep doing his thing. He even gave me first aid once!!

Our city needs to encourage fresh new ideas and simplfy the process of getting permits . More of these businesses not less. So many parks in the city are not user friendly, no bathrooms, no flowers no food. Why not encourage people to make the parks better and therefore used more.

This is a perfect example of the irrational and irritating politics in Buffalo. Why is it your goal to making it virtually impossible to survive? As far as being stationary vs. mobil, it is the choice of the vendor is it not? Why all of the sudden do we need to make new rules for "specific" types of vending? I think it is called bullying... I may be incorrect in this statement, but, in regards to Olmsted, if they are not offering ice cream in all of the parks that were designed "for the people" then what is the problem? Keep the peace and look past the dollar. Is it really necessary to nickel and dime small vendors to death? It is high time our "government and their political friends" stopped using these types of small and non-essential distractions so they may refrain from making some real progress. So sick of the nonsense and embarrassed by this behavior.

Really? Capitalism with restrictions? hmmm. Sounds a bit more like monopolizing to me. I say "let him through!" He's harmlessly trying to earn a buck and the public loves him. "Down with similarity! Up with creativity!"

Buffalo does not need any more of a reason for its residents to flee. It's time to start taking some positive steps to rebuild the city's reputation, and making everybody's dream possible. Please allow this new development!

My husband, Bill Boden, and I feel strongly that the permitting process for vendors such as James the IceCream Cycle should be changed to make it more affordable and easier to accomplish.

Please consider this proposal for a new permit system, as it is the fair, equitable thing to do, and also encourages healthy competetion in our fair city.

More than only mobile vendors, the business climate in Buffalo is extremely unfriendly to new entrepreneurs. The future of this city is strongly dependent on changing the outmoded ways of thought we hold here, and follow the successful examples of other cities that are experiencing an economic explosion due to open and small-business-friendly policies.

The economy, culture and history of the United States is based upon freedom, capitalism and equality. The framers of our constitution rebelled against unfair taxation, and so, in the spirit of our American, the time is right to reevaluate the tax burden that has been pushed upon the Ice Creamcycle man. He is a small vendor and shouldn't be taxed like larger operations. It's just fair.
