Target:
Lowered Carbon emissions, by less clothes dryer use
Sponsored by:
Unfortunately, certain narrow-minded  American States and body corporate organisations Worldwide have banned the use of clothes lines, or clothes racks outdoors in the interest of or creating a 'tidy' image.

This of course undermines an Global effort to reduce carbon emissions.

Nature gave  us the best clothes dryer (the Sun), which also provides anti-bacterial features - not yet found in the latest technology.

Please help to raise awareness of this outdated ideology and sign this petition.

I live in one of those California HOA dictatorships and I feel that hanging out my clothes is a basic human right right up there with freedom of speech. Why is it that someone else can tell me what I can and can not do in the backyard of a home that I OWN????? If I can drink a glass of wine in my yard, why can't I dry my clothes?

Please consider the impact of allowing clotheslines on our energy dependent country. By drying at least one load of laundry on the line, households will save 50 cents. Being that average households do 1.5 loads of laundry per day, that's a savings of $273.75 per year per household. Those funds could be used to help decrease the stifling debt many households tote or to spur growth in the economy - as well as decreasing our energy consumption as a whole. Perhaps instead of banning clotheslines, consider implementing ordinances regarding their appearance. Maybe it is the lingerie on the line that offends or the duration of their use. Ask families to keep them in backyards or build them from approved plans. As I am a proponent of looking at research from all perspectives, lawmakers should first consider the global impact of laws instead of simply creating them to appease the finicky minority.

I am a college student and I feel that people should not be fined for hanging their clothes outside because it saves energy. If the concern for hanging clothes outside is that it is tacky then there should be time limiits on how long clothing should be left outside.

I am a single working mother of 3. I have no dryer. I hang my clothes out on retractable lines because clotheslines are prohibited in my town's code. I live in the deaert. Clothes dry in 15-45 min.here. nobody I live by has an objection to clotheslines so why is it wrong?

I think that people are absolutely INSANE that they are more worried about the appearance of someone's clothes hanging on a line than the actual benefit of doing so!! It's GREEN, FREE and NATURAL!! What is wrong with people?!! To hell with everyone- JUST DO IT! Let them complain and call the police. That's when you call the media to shed light on how insane this is! Spread the word!!

I live in a trailer park and we're not allowed personal clotheslines. There used to be lines outside the laundry room, but those were taken down. Personally, I now have set up an indoor place to hang clothes to dry, but . . . if California is to worked up to save electricity and lower pollution, why not allow clotheslines. I don't mind seeing clean clothes hanging in someone's yard.

I live in a condo community in Hinesburg, VT and we can not hang clothes outside to dry. On the most beautiful of summer days I have to use my dryer. Not only am I wasting a prime opportunity to not use it but I am heating up my house in the middle of summer which I then have to cool down with fans. It's a complete waste of energy and absolutely infuriating.

Just found out I can't have a clothesline (I think it's more a neighborhood rule than a law, but still...)
