Rimadyl killed my beloved Winnie on April 15, 1999. I also was injured in a dogbite to the face due to the adverse reaction my dog had to Rimadyl which resulted in half amputation of my nose. I tried to sue Pfizer, but I didn't have enough money at the time to go to trial.

My Australian Silky was given Rymadil for an eye inflammation and he developed vestibular and neurological symptoms within 24 hours. I frantically raced from one vet to the next, no-one seemed to know what was happening with my little dog, only later I learned, one vet wrote "possible side effects Rymadil". I contacted Pfizer Sydney, Australia and they refused to believe that it could be caused by Rymadil.I informed them of the information of Rymadil on the net, and they just brushed it away. To make a long story short, my Austr. Silky Maxi died a slow and miserable death 12 years of age. Before he took the Rymadil, no blood works were taken, he was a very healthy dog with an eye inflammation. The vet went on the defensive and did not want to know about my dog. In Australia not many people complain when something goes wrong, I advised all relevant institutions about Rymadil, but absolutely nothing was done. A couple of vets who saw my dog have stopped using Rymadil but it is one of the most popular NSAID drug used by vets in Australia. My dog died on 12 April 2006 and he did not deserve to die such a horrible death. I miss him dearly and hope, that Pfizer will be stopped to sell this medication. There is plenty of other medication which serves the same purpose and is not harmful.

my dog suffers from arthritis and stiffness in the joints - Rimadyl makes him go for walks. one day off it and he is limping again.I understand its not worked for every dog however to ban it will reduce the quality of live enjoyed by thousands of dogs. By all means let people know of the risks and then the sysmptons can be monitored. Best wishes

My dog just died this morning... Small intestine ruptured... Sadie Sue Checkers was hit by a car on Friday Nov, 13th... Her hind quarters were the issue at hand... She was immediately taken to Georgia Veterinary Specialists... X-rays, blood work, several consultations later & she is scheduled to be operated on Monday Nov, 16th... We left her in the care of the GVS for the weekend... Everything went well... She had her femoral head removed on one side due to the size of the crack being so small... We discussed the chances of arthritis with it remaining... Without its presence there was no cause for alarm... Happy to have her home & on the mend we took intimate care in returning her home & watching over her on the afternoon of Tuesday Nov 17th... She was having difficulty urinating, no bowel movements, etc... The next day Wednesday November 18th I woke up to find that she had taken out a few staples in her hind area... We immediately called GVS & took her in to have some staples put back in... Our Veterinarian looked over her, I asked about the dosage of the Rimadyl & her pain reliever... Everything was "fine"... When we arrived back home she ate a little tuna, some beans, and a small bit of carrots... A few hours later she had thrown up...Her health was digressing... I noticed that she was becoming irritated at the surmounting pressure that was present in her abdomen... She was becoming lethargic... I figured it may have been due to the swelling in her hind quarters due to the recent Monday Nov, 16th operation... She had a bit of an issue at one moment when she was attempting to go poo... Her feces was black (meaning blood in the intestinal tract)... I called GVS to ask about constipation... I had read online that pumpkin was a great remedy to this... They advised me that this was correct... I gave her some pumpkin, it was not working so I called again less than an hour later... I asked the Dr. about her progress... Why she would be in such pain... Why was she bloating? We took her in immediately... The Dr. took notice that she was swelling at first site... She began urinating a bright yellow pee... He then took her into the observation area in the private area of the clinic to run an ultrasound... He later came back with a syringe full of the substance that he had observed under a microscope... It was a bacteria... Her entire cavity was full with this bacteria... Why? I began to ask about the Rimadyl... The Dr. explained that Pfizer in most chances would take care of the operation due to the unintentional results of the drug... He was happy that we had gotten her there so quickly... He said that most times it is all about time when a bacteria is involved in the possible outcomes of that pet... 'It looked good"... We were told that we DID NOT NEED A DEPOSIT for the operation... That they would get to her immediately... That was at 4:40 am Thursday Nov, 19th 2009... We were called at 10 am & ASKED FOR A DEPOSIT... That we were not going to be able to start surgery UNTIL they had a deposit... Sadie Sue Checkers died this morning at around noon... She had a hemorrhagic perforation in her small intestine... Not even related to a busted pelvis... We would love any advice on our situation & any possible assistance to speak with the people we need to talk with... Thank you very much, Sadie Sue Checkers parents...

Within a short amount of time of adminstering this medication to my pet prescribed by my veterinarian, Lilly began to start showing fatal signs of side effects. Lilly was diagnosed with Hip Displaysia and I was given Rimadyl to soothe her pain and to help with the imflammation. Unfortunately, she wasn't our sweet little Lilly anymore. She began to have loss of appetite, changes in drinking habits, unusual pattern of urination & bowel movements, vomiting, lethargy, drowsiness, restlessness, staggering, stumbling, weakness, apparent dizziness & loss of balance. These symptoms we began to notice were impairing her worse than before she was on the Rimadyl. So, we discontinued the use of the medication because it was as if she were fading away and we were contributing to this by giving her the Rimadyl. I am seeking natural and herbal supplements for her now and unfortunately, I can't afford the surgery at this present time but I won't help to KILL my friend and companion.

My 12 yr old Lhasa Apso developed a limp in her hind quarters. Rimadyl was prescribed and administered. Within a short time, other medical conditions developed and were treated without success. Euthanasia was the end result. It is my firm belief that Rimadyl may have been the start of her demise and I will never permit it to be administered to any future dog that I may possess.

My 8 year old poodle named Peanut was recently prescribed Rimadyl to ease the pain of an impacted anal gland. After only 3 days on the drug he became ill. I am totally convinced that the Rimadyl is to blame. Pfizer please be responsible and pull the drug off the market.

Why do vets allow pet owners the risk of losing their beloved pets for monetary gain? Why do the manufacturers distribute such a harmful drug without mandatory information and fatal warnings? Again, monetary gain. This has to stop!!
