Last year we voiced our opinions towards Rogers' iPhone data plan prices. This time around, the issue is early hardware upgrades for the iPhone 3GS. Some people are ineligible or have to wait for 2 years.
Let's band together to let Rogers know how we feel and allow early iPhone 3GS upgrades!

Let's band together to let Rogers know how we feel and allow early iPhone 3GS upgrades!
We the undersigned express the following...
There are numerous iPhone 3G users on Rogers/Fido in Canada. For those who want to upgrade to the newly announced Apple iPhone 3GS, Rogers is not allowing people to upgrade early if they are less than 2 years into a 3 year contract.
Rogers will not allow anyone to upgrade or "top up" extra months to reach 2 years. That means people will have to wait until 2010 to upgrade to the iPhone 3GS.
Original iPhone 3G subscribers will have committed over $3000 dollars over a 3 year contract with Rogers--our commitment should be strongly considered. Rogers--please allow your customers to upgrade to the iPhone 3GS via promotional upgrade prices of $199/$299 for 16GB/32GB models.
We signed the "Rogers: Allow Early Upgrades to the iPhone 3GS" petition!

It seems very short sited that for existing long term customers that they are not allowed to upgrade even offering to pay a penalty to get the iphone 3Gs. Please allow early upgrades to the iphone and show loyalty back to the customers that have supported your business.

If Rogers didn't have a virtual monopoly on the iPhone in Canada they couldn't exercise this (and several others) policy(s) and get away with it. As soon as Rogers finds any real national competition they will be forced to reduce the price gouging and lower their prices and loosen stringent pure money making policies such as this one. Unfortunately for Rogers though, once competition does enter the market the loyalty to the carrier will be almost non-existent.

i believe the 2 year wait for an upgrade is unfair, and am willing to pay a price for the new phone. it's the best phone i've ever had, and there is nothing to compete with it. i hope this helps sway your policy. thanks

I think this policy should accomodate anyone not just people 24 months in. I spend more in 3 months than some people do in a year!

I called Rogers the other day to upgrade my wifes plan to an iPhone. This is a 24+ months voice plan, basically she does not have a contract anymore. I was told that if I want to upgrade her account I would have to pay $399 for a 16GB and $499 for a 32 GB iPhone with a minimum $25 dollars monthly data plan. Shame Rogers! You do not respect and care about your customers.

I hope that every Rogers fatcat that has been screwing over the average consumer for years dies a horrible death.

There was no reason for Rogers to do this. If they want my money then change it back to 1 year.

They changed their upgrade policy 1 week (literally 7 business days) before my upgrade eligibility date so now I have to wait another year to upgrade. They tell me I can't do an early upgrade unless I pay full retail price.

I think once you are a customer of roger/fido for 5 years you should be able to upgrade at new customer pricing every year.

I signed my 3 year contract as the iPhone 3G was being released... it was too expensive at the time and i was told that in 12 months i would be able to upgrade my phone. Then this new policy comes in, essentially "changing" my plan without my knowledge.
I am disappointed... I switched from Bell to rogers for their "Customer Service"... HA

Rogers is getting ridiculous on all fronts.
