UPDATE 12/24/2010:  The official investigative report conducted by the Des Moines, Washington Police Department can be read by clicking http://www.trunewfsrescue.com/  Among other horrendous things, you will read that after the first shot was fired into Rosie's body, causing her intense pain and suffering, the police officers involved gave each other a "high five" as if to celebrate.
UPDATE 12/17/2010:  The office of the King County Prosecutor decided AGAINST pursuing criminal charges against the police officers involved in the murder of Rosie.  UPDATE 11/30/2010: The King County Prosecutor has agreed to review the Des Moines police officer shooting of a dog, which could begin as early as the end of the week.
Rosie, a 3 1/2 year old Newfoundland dog, was shot 4 times & killed with a sniper rifle (Colt M-4) by Des Moines, Washington police while she was contained in a neighbor's fenced backyard on Sunday, 11/7/2010.  The reason for this petition is to seek justice for Rosie.  Another, and equally important, reason for this petition is to seek justice for all dogs shot & killed by law enforcement throughout the United States.  Laws, policies and procedures MUST be changed in order to prevent dogs like Rosie from being killed unjustly by law enforcement.  In addition, all law enforcement personnel MUST be thoroughly trained to interpret and understand canine behavior in any given situation.  Without this knowledge, the shooting deaths of dogs at the hands of law enforcement will continue and it must stop!  Remember, Rosie could have been your dog.  To read the 4-page case report filed by the Des Moines, WA Police Department regarding Rosie, please click:  http://www.trunewfsrescue.com/rosie_police_report.html
