Last year alone, U.S. law enforcement identified over 300,000 criminals who were trafficking in movies and pictures of young children being raped and tortured. Experts say that one in three of these criminals has local child victims. Child pornography trafficking over the internet has given us a trail of evidence that leads straight to their doorsteps, but the vast majority of these children will never be rescued because investigators are overwhelmed.
As your constituents, we urge you to do everything in your power to pass the PROTECT OUR CHILDREN ACT (S.1738, Biden-Hatch). This bipartisan legislation passed the House 415-2, but is now the victim of petty partisan politics.
Now that we know where these children are and how to protect them, there is no excuse for the senate to fail to take action this session.

Even though the times are difficult due to the state of our economy, we cannot allow the future of our nation, our children, to live in the nightmare that's currently occurring to them. These children are being raped and tortured. It is a shame that a bill such as this needs to have senators called, petitioned, begged and pleaded with. There is terrorism going on inside our own homes right here in America. The fatalities are far greater than that in any war we're fighting overseas. I am NOT demeaning the lives of our heroes fighting for our country, just making a comparison. The strictist punishment needs to be implemented. These people believe that the punishment they receive is well worth the excitement they get by hurting these little ones. Why? Because the punishment does not fit the crime. These sick, twisted perverts need to be reminded (not of their horrible crime, for that probably excites them more) but that we the people will not stand for it any longer. Slapping them on the wrist and putting them on a registry is not that big of a deal to them. Besides, hardly anybody even looks at the registry. Not a single person that I know of besides me.

The government, religous and special interest groups and individuals that really could make a difference are worried about dogs, cats, padding their own pockets, leaving a legacy to be remembered by, being affiliated with the most popular disease of the time or just being a "good" person. Child porn is the most disgusting, vile, evil violation of our humanity. Offenders need to be hit hard: broadcast their shame to the world (how many would rather commit suicide than have their mothers know what they have done) heavy penalties, make an example of the ones that are caught, send a message to the ones that may be contemplating doing it.
