Same Sex Dates for School Dances

   We the undersigned request that same sex students from other high schools be allowed to attend school dances with current Cypress Lake High School students. Other high schools in the Lee County school district allow same sex students from other schools to attend their dances so its clearly not a school board rule. Students should not be penalized for not having a date with the opposite sex. School dances are an important social activity for all students regardless of the sex of their friends or significant others. It is clearly a civil rights violation to deny any students' the right to be accompanied by a student of their choice.          Thank you for your consideration.
