End Senseless Medical Marijuana Arrests

Stop Medical Marijuana Raids in San Diego

Target:
Bonnie Dumanis, Karen Hewitt, William Sherman, Tami Steine

Send a letter to District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis and all the other law enforcement officers responsible for the Medical Marijuana raids on September 9th 2009. Let them know that this type of action has not gone un-noticed and will not be tolerated.

This petition is a plea to their conscience as well as a notification that we, as a community, intend to stand up for what we believe in and not allow them to continue to raid, arrest and bully the people that are trying to make medical marijuana available to patients in need.

As a concerned citizen I am writing you today to ask that you stop all further raids and investigations into San Diego Medical Marijuana dispensaries. I would also like to request that you drop all charges associated with the raids on September 9th 2009.

In the press conference on September 10th 2009 Bonnie Dumanis clearly stated that she supported the legitimate use of medical marijuana by patients in need, however the recent raids seem to demonstrate otherwise. There were also comments by William Landsome that patients are legally allowed to grow their own medicine. Many patients in need of medical marijuana are too sick to grow their own medicine and many of them don%u2019t have a primary care-giver that they can assign to grow on their behalf. Also, because of the tumultuous political climate in San Diego around the topic of medical marijuana, many patients are too scared to grow their own medicine for fear of prosecution.

The storefront dispensaries serve an important role in the community to make the supply of medical marijuana available to the patients that need it.

Shutting them down hurts the patients and employees that need these dispensaries to exist. It also hurts the state by taking away sales tax revenue that is desperately needed at the moment. Not only does it hurt the people involved but these types of raids and investigations waste vast amounts of city and state resources that could be going to more important causes.

This petition is intended to let you know that we, the people of the United States of America will no longer tolerate this type of action. Our government is supposed to work for the people and not against us. These recent actions were a clear sign that you were working for an agenda other than that of the people of San Diego.

If you truly want to make sure that medical marijuana patients are able to have their needs met, choose to work with the dispensaries to show them how to be in compliance instead of raiding them. I%u2019m sure they would be more than willing to comply and most of them thought they already were. This would be much less expensive for the city, require fewer resources and would help to create a safer environment for everyone involved; especially the seriously ill patients that need convenient and affordable access to their medicine.

We may not have the power to directly stop you from wasting valuable time and resources to prosecute innocent individuals for crimes they didn%u2019t commit. We do, however, have the power to make our voices heard and to vote according to our value systems.

We would love to feel like you are here to support and help us instead of work against us. Please reconsider your decisions, drop the charges, stop the raids and work co-operatively together with the medical marijuana community to ensure that patients can get their medicine and to ensure that the laws are being met.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and consider the views expressed in it. I sincerely hope that you will take these words to heart and make the appropriate changes needed.

I look forward to hearing your response.

Sincerely,

I dont understand why in Gods name, you people are SO AGAINST anyone seeking releif from MM? I gaurantee the people who need this medication, are not harming you, youre families, or anyone else.

After years of depression, ADD, Severe scoliosis, sciatica, restless leg syndrome, knee pain, joint pain, MM has worked wonders for me. It allows me to function in the daytime and sleep at night, not to mention releiving IBS caused by countless pills Ive taken for my pain.

Dear Ms. Dumanis, please stop all medical cannabis raids. I am a voting US veteran with a 40% VA disability rating for chronic pain due to a helicopter crash while serving our country. These medical cannabis dispensaries are my only "legal" way to obtain my medicine. Keep us safe! I do not want to go to the street for medicine; plus who knows where the moneys paid at the street level is going? We voted! (California prop 215) honor the majority. Stop the raids! Thank you for your time, Mark.

Medical Cannabis is the only medicine that helps with my chronic low back pain. I have been able to stop taking Cyclobenziprine (Flexural) which is a strong muscle relaxer since using medicinal cannabis.

It is time.

My husband is a type I diabetic. Marijuana lowers blood sugar naturally and has also saved his eyesight. He is 53 and in much better shape that his peers who have NOT used marijuana.

The conflict between local people, state people and federal has reached a ridiculous point. Well-meaning people like James Stacy, who act within the law are being targeted for political gains. This is not the America we grew up to trust. Don't let these injustices continue.

As a breast cancer survivor, I know a number of people who have undergone chemotherapy, I am appalled that those who need the help that medical marijuana can provide, as well as those who help them, are put at risk by misguided government officials.

As a survivor of cancer and 6 surgeries since 2001, chronic pain or discomfort is part of my everyday existence. Medical marijuana works to ease that pain & discomfort for me and many others. I cannot fathom why law enforcement is wasting precious money and resources in raids and prosecution of Medical Marijuana patients and collectives. These people are not a threat to society and this is legal under state law. I would hope that some common sense and logic could be found and our law enforcement resources would go towards prosecuting the serious threats to our society... not people who are just trying to find some measure of comfort or pain relief under the law.

This is not right! It is our right to use whichever medicine we want. We are not criminals. We are citizens of this nation going about our business just like everyone else!

It has helped me with my back pain for years!

When a plant is helping people for thousand of years. It is a travesty to see our goverment put Pharmacutical companys ahead of the will of the people for what money. Our taxpayers money and votes are not enough? Do we have to pay the FDA hundreds of millions to bring a drug that has no harmful side efects to the market. What is wrong with our money hungry goverment, when will the peoples vote matter?

What a travesty to the people fo this State, your treatment of medical cannabis patients is unacceptable! You that will not support the laws of the people of this State must be removed. Know now that you will be forever opposed by a GREAT number of people, denying your further political ambitions.

Obey the 10th Ammendment, stop the raids and recognise the will of the people you work for, your constituents, and end these raids.

I am affected by arthritis in my back and arms, have hepatitis b and c and can take very few pharmecuetical meds because they damage the liver and mine will not tolerate them. I eat brownies and vaporize when needed for inflammation, spasms, discomfort, and appetite.

This is an outrage and the voters who live in SD have a very clear mandate to oust this woman from any kind of public office now or in her future. I hope and pray that these kinds of tatics will be something to read about as incredulous, that we as Americans ever tolerated such blatant abuse of power and the law. Law enforcement needs new leadership that is for and by the people not privilege or wealth. One day MJ will be legalized and this womans career will be finished. We can visit her and wonder at her for the things she did to abuse the poor, the homeless, and those truly in need. I forgive her and pray for her to come to her senses and stop this behavior, shame and shame on you.

Marijuana has been such a blessing from Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. In my physiology class I just found that researchers just found out that the Lord created a special receptacle JUST for that tiny, mighty plant cannabis sativa in a lobe within the our brain. NO other molecule will fit within this receptacle. Wow, I mean wow that is truly Gods loving kindness to mankind. Please research it yourselves. God bless all persevere, do not give up. Ed

Please do not take away my right to the medicine necessary for me to live a full and happy life. I suffer from chronic migraines and have tried various prescriptions and remedies with no positive results. Marijuana is the only answer to my headaches. I also suffer from insomnia and refuse to resort to harsh sleeping pills and prefer the much safer, much more natural way to counteract this condition. So please, don't take away the medicine i truly need so desperately. For not only my health and well being, but for all the legal patients of California.

The leadership of our country has said that the federal govenrment would not attack medical marijuana but Bonnie Dumanis has pursued a course of action that is for her own politcal goals that are agaist the will of the people. if she is allowed to continue we will all be put in jail so that she can advance her goals.

I have chroinc pain and medical Marijuana hass allowed me to get back in shape and I lost 45lbs in a year and a half. it has allowed me to get my life back and now because of these raids I can not use my medicin and must endure daily pain.

Marijuana use will NEVER go away...just like booze and the prohibition. Get the money off the streets and into the community. Figure out a way to reform and better tax its use and let the will of the people be heard!!!

I know several individuals that are finally able to get through a day thanks to medical marajauna. People who have tried one pain medication after another, and have finally found something that eases the pain. Medical marajauna is helping more and more Americans every day. Lets spend some tax dollars on removing dangerous drugs from the street, rather than waisting tax dollars to go after those trying to help Americans in need.

Raiding dispensaries is a misguided use of government dollars possible in such tight budget times. Prohibition has not decreased addiction rates, regular usage rates, or availability. This action only helps the Mexican cartels.

Medical marijuana can help to relieve the health-care system of many unnecessary costs and it provides relief that other medicines can't. It also has less potential for abuse than alcohol, tobacco, or many pharmaceuticals.

THE FEDS ARE IN THE WRONG.....STATE LAWS ARE NOT BROKEN !

HELPED ME IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT ! CRONIC PAIN IS RELAXED IN MY BACK...SEVERE PAIN FROM DEGENERATIVE DISCS AND STEEL RODS.. THE NAUSIA FROM MORPHINE IS STOPPED IN ONE BREATH WITH THC ..... THE UNEDUCATED BOOBS NEED TO BE LOCKED UP ... NOT THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA.

Same old same old; too much time and money being wasted on a pointless, and in this case harmful cause.

My friend's husband has a degenerative spine and was prescribed medical marijuana in Los Angelas. He continues to struggle but with reduced pain.

Please allow doctors to make the medical decisions they see fit. Intervening with federal law is incautious and unproductive. If something will help a patient then by all means they should be allowed to use it.

Please cease the unnecessary persecution of medical dispensaries and lift the moratorium on their operation immediately. Denying a patient – someone who is sick, who is in excruciating pain, someone who is in mental anguish, someone who has tried all the alternatives – the medicine and treatment they need to simply function is unconscionable. These are humans who deserve to live dignified lives and responsibly use a medicine that is legally prescribed to them by a physician. It is a heinous action to defy the law and squander taxpayer money to satisfy a political agenda. I implore you to be compassionate and work with patients and caregivers.

I am 60 retired and a Vietnam vet. Many of us have worked against cannabis prohibition for many years. But others fight to insure we are filling the jails, why I do not know. I suppose to serve their own personal job goals. I would not aspire to a job built on the enslavement of other humans. Perhaps it is time to rethink your career objectives?

I'm writing you today to express my outrage at San Diego for not following state law! It's time to stop prosecuting people for such a ridiculously bogus attempt to squash medicines for people in pain and making them take pharmaceuticals that have terrible dies effects. I'm a disabled veteran that has a broken back! I live with pain throughout my back and legs that causes me to wake up crying many mornings, if I can sleep at all! I'm a former Federal Agent that thinks the war on drugs is stupid and a huge waste of time. It's not working. It's time to support the use of MM for legitimate purposes. My doctor and pain specialist know and approve of it's use for me. I can't even work anymore and am on LTD for the rest of my life, I'm only 51!!!! It's time to stop believing the crap the Feds tell you and have some compassion for people in need. I now have to drive clear into San Diego for medicine since they closed all the dispensaries in North County! I support legal co-ops, not criminals that don't follow the guidelines established for legitimate patients. This is nothing more than harassment and illegal pursuits. Stop wasting our tax dollars fighting this and support the legal implementations of MM! Sincerely, David Swan

It's far better than anti-depresseents or pain medicine that I have to take every day. They wack my system and have terrible side effects. MM makes things so much easier to deal with!

Please stop incarcerating sick people who need their medicine. Prisons are for violent criminals, not marijuana patients. Please look at statistics on the amount of deaths per year by pharmaceticals, alcohol and tobacco- all legal substances that kill- deaths from cannabis use- I have never even heard of 1. This is crazy that it is illegal when it clearly helps people with pain and gives people the ability to have an appetite. Dig deep into your heart and show compassion.

Marijuana has helped so many people that I know, there are too many here to list, but the most help that I have seen is with cancer patients and also it helps with my menustral cramps- I would prefer to put cannabis in my body any day rather than codiene.

Thanks Bonnie – I could not have thought of a worse thing someone could have done if I tried. You can’t make this stuff up! Ordering a bunch of badge wearing thugs to yank a paralyzed guy out of a wheelchair & throw him into the back of a police cruiser while he shrieks in pain. Nice - good story for your grandchildren someday –

Helped me break the addiction to the powerful narcotic pain pills made by the huge pharmaceutical corporations who’s profits & crimes against humanity remain protected by American hating people such as Bonnie Dumanis and her evil Boris Yeltsin looking side kick on the city council
