Save Alkimos From Speculators

There is a housing and land shortage in the Metro Area. Alkimos, a new area in Perth's north-west coastal corridor will have over 55,000 residential blocks of land for development. Speculators buy vacant residential land and hold onto this land for many years in order to grab rising land values. The development in this area will be compromised if we allow speculators to grab and hold on to this land.

Therefore, We, The undersigned, propose:
  • Sale of vacant blocks in Alkimos should include a 3 year timeline restriction to build.
  • Rates should fall on site value rather than on capital improved value, to cut tax breaks for speculators and promote positive incentives towards development.
These measures will effectively influence the growth and planning of the community. Maximising resident occumpancy of the Community in turn will impact on growth and sustainability through contribution to schools, businesses and leisure activities.
