Save Asylum-Seeking Kurds From Deportation

In Iran, activists face persecution for trying to fight for human rights and democracy. Because of their political beliefs, twenty Kurds have fled to Stockholm, Sweden to seek amnesty. Now, Stockholm is trying to send them back to Iran, where they will almost certainly face threats to their lives.

The Kurds, which include men, women, and children, have begun a hunger strike that is now stretching into its third week. Five men have already collapsed from hunger; one has sewn his lips shut. Despite documents that confirm their obvious peril, Sweden continues to attempt to deport them.

Refusing to grant amnesty to refugees is not only borderline illegal; it is downright unethical. Demand that Sweden stop deporting amnesty-seeking refugees!
I am writing to urge you to allow the twenty asylum-seeking Kurds currently on a hunger strike in Stockholm to remain in Sweden.

As humanitarian activists, the Kurds face obvious peril to their lives. But despite verified documents and photos that illustrate their need for asylum, the Swedish government continues to deny them amnesty.

If the Kurds are deported back to Iran, they will almost certainly face threats to their lives. I urge you to heed their cries and allow them to remain in the country.
