SAVE BOURKEVALE off-leash DOG PARK

The City of Winnipeg is planning to reconfigure our BOURKEVALE OFF-LEASH DOG PARK by adding an "S" shaped cement path, a canoe launch, and a fence which will keep the Dogs & Owners confined to the farthest, wooded, unkept side of the Park!

My husband & I love to take our Dog, Tommy, to the Bourkevale Off leash DOG park, and I'm frustrated to hear that the City wants to segregate the Dogs from the non-Dog Owners, whom obviously don't like Dogs
.  The last time I checked, this is/was a DOG park!

I'm against the demolition, destruction, and reconfiguration of BOURKEVALE DOG PARK! The water has a horrible current and I wouldn't suggest Canoeing, to anyone, at this particular location, personally.

When talking of the new design, the flow of the cement path is somewhat absurd, the fence is completely unnecessary, and the dock will once again, be destroyed by the ice jams that occur there every year, making this project a waste of money, time and effort.

WE DOG OWNERS, should've been able to have a say, which we did not get and is completely unfair.

When talking of locations, there is a Canoe club located on Dunkirk and there are many other locations that could be used, instead of Bourkevale Off-Leash Dog Park. For example: Assiniboine Park, St.Vital Park, Churchill Drive, etc.

Why we have to loose our DOG PARK for Canoers is ridiculous and I will be recruiting as many people as I can, to stop this from happening.

Please sign this petition so that we can be the VOICE for our dogs, and to keep BOURKEVALE dog park, the way it is.....! You can't have a voice unless you use it, and we need 250 names to stop the destruction of our PARK!
IF you own a dog, or are planning on getting a dog, this park is for you. Please help us in reaching our goal! Thank you.
Dear City Councillor, Scott Fielding,
We the undersigned, are sending you this petition in hopes that you will change the City of Winnipeg's decision to put up a fence at the BOURKEVALE OFF-LEASH DOG PARK, which will confine and segregate not only our DOGS, but the DOG OWNERS included.
I prompt you to look over the City of Winnipeg's design of the Fence that is deemed by many, as a security issue/risk for all Dog Owners (especially Women) that decide to go to the Bourkevale Dog Park at anytime of day, especially at dusk.  When I look at the fence design,  I'm appauled that this was approved by the City of Winnipeg due to the distance it takes from the fence's only exit, to the Parking Lot.
I have personally been to this park by myself (I'm a female) with my Dog, Tommy, and I can't imagine being locked in a fenced area with only one exit, in the far off wooded area of the Park, which I find is a huge Security issue.
This has been a Dog park for over a decade, and the City of Winnipeg's choice to reconfigure it now, by segregating the Dogs from Non-Dog Owners is a blatant disregard for all DOG OWNERS of Winnipeg.
Please go to the Facebook page, "Save Bourkevale Dog Park", and you will notice that with this petition site, including the Facebook page, there are a total of 200 concerned citizens that do not want the fence to be installed at BOURKEVALE OFF-LEASH DOG PARK, located at Assiniboine and Ferry Road.

Thank you for your time,
Carla Nachtigall-Lamoureux
