I have had Directv for 7 years. They never returned my inquiries as to why they dropped CCTV-9. Dish Network is coming Saturday to install their programming which includes CCTV-9. Thanks for the memories Directv.

I concur with everyone's statements, plus let me add that every year CCTV9 is the only channel here that my girlfriend (chinese) and I are able to watch the Chinese New Year Celebration. I have had DTV for more than 7 years and some channels were removed without reason. But this may be the final straw, I will start looking into Dish.

This is definitely a break of contract ! CCTV-9 is the primary reason for me to subscribe DirectTV. If they do not bring back CCTV-9 very soon, I will go DISH. I have been trying to find out why directv stopped carrying cctv-9 but cannot get any answer from them. I have called and sent emails, but no reply has been received. Because of this poor treatment , I am considering asking the California department of consumer affairs if there is any breach of contract since when I had signed up for their service there was no mention that cctv-9 would be discontinued.

Not only were their cultural and historical programs fascinating, but it was very interesting to see how they skewed their presentations and reporting to suit their political positions; which gives a measure of their priorities. Misreading their priorities or intentions or allowing our government to mislead us about them would be incalculably more dangerous than the Iraqi fiasco.

I'm thankful that I have dish network. Ever since I get satellite, I watch CCTV-9 and CCTV-E since Spanish is my second language. My favorite program is Chinese Civilization. I wish this show were longer than five minutes. I also enjoy Travel in Chinese.

In light of the increasingly connected global economy, it is stupid for Directv to drop the one channel that gives us insight into Chinese news and culture. The availability of this channel was a major reason I signed up with Directv. If it is not added again to the line up I will go to Dish.

I enlisted with directv because of the presence of cctv 9 program. I formerly suscribe to comcast and canceled upon deleting cctv 9. I would not hesitate to do the same again. CCTV 9 is so informative about the whole asia and europe, which I would hate to miss.

It is a shame that Directv subs could be losing another international nr=ews channel. Sometimes you just want to see the news without a screaming talking head telling you his or her opinion. CCTV-9 provided that as did Newsworld International. I would hope that CCTV-9 stays on Directv and other news channels from around the world will be added.

There are 20 home shopping/all infomercial channels. There are more than ten all religious channels. There are the "Mix" channels which simply rebroadcast other channels. They keep crud like that, but dump CCTV? I don't care if it's run by the Chinese government--it's more interesting and worthwhile than any of the channels I mentioned above, and I'll miss it much more than I'd miss all of the 30+ shopping, infomercial, religious, and mix channels. This is not like Discovery Civilization or Trio where a good channel goes belly-up--this is DirecTV making a bad choice. Keep CCTV9!

me and my wife love watching cctv9 on a regular basis. i am american and she is chinese so i learn more about her home country and she can keep up with current news on this channel. the programming is very unique and we love it. please do not pull this channel from the directv lineup. i have been a directv customer for many years and would hate to have find a new provider after all this time. thank you very much.

I watched CCTV-9 on Dish Network for 3 years and now 6 months after switching to DirecTV I am losing one of my most watched channels. I hope CCTV/DirecTV will reconsider this action. This channel is important to me and I will return to Dish Network if they continue to carry it and DirecTV does not.

Just turned to CCTV9 and saw that DirecTV was taking it off. I'm not sure why they are taking it off, but it seems like they are trying to remove alternative TV so we are less informed. This is just another form of media control. I'm taking Chinese in college and CCTV9 was very helpful and informative.
