Dozens of street dogs live in the most popular park in Mexico City: El Bosque de Chapultepec. These dogs are loved and fed by street vendors and animal lovers. Last week the administrator of the park started a cleansing campaign which pretends to eliminate all the dogs of Chapultepec. The dogs are planned to be send to the pound where they will be electrocuted!! Please save them!!!

Dear Mr. President Calderón
We the undersigned strongly urge you to stop the massacre of the street dogs that live in El Bosque de Chapultpec. Dozens of dogs that have been abandoned or that have been born in the streets as a consequence of human negligence and cruelty have made Chapultepec their home. They are fed and loved by animal lovers and street vendors. We have learned that the Administrator of the park Ms. Rosa María Gómez Sosa and her assistant Mr. Martín Aguilar have planned a cleansing campaign of the park. This campaign includes the killing of all the dogs. Ms. Sosa is planning to send them to the Aragon pound where they will be electrocuted. We as Mexican citizens and citizens of other nations urge you to stop this massacre. We ask you to protect those animals as well all the stray dogs in Mexico. Research and experience have demonstrated that the only solution to the overpopulation of dogs is sterilization. The dogs of Chapultepec have the right to live in peace and with dignity. Perhaps they do not have a house but they have a home which happens to be Chapultepec and they have hundreds of citizens that care about them in Mexico and in the rest of the world. Let us finish this petition quoting Mahatma Gandhi
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way their animals are treated"
Sincerely,
APASDEM Animal Welfare Organizations of Mexico
