The USFS-Ketchum Ranger District and SNRA are currently rerouting Curly's Trail, eliminating the coveted steep and technical nature of this trail. While their intentions of creating a more "rideable" trail are noble, the Wood River Bicycle Coalition, on behalf of local mountain bikers, is requesting the project be revisited in light of the desire of local riders to see Curly's Trail maintain its difficult, technical nature.Curly's Trail offers not only one of the sole challenging downhills in the valley but also a sustainable trail which may be ridden responsibly when conditions are saturated as was the case this spring. Altering Curly's as planned will essentially remove a unique and vital trail from the Wood River Valley's trail inventory. The WRBC is issuing this petition with the following requests:1) Maintain Curly's Trail as is preserving its challenging and technical nature which is very unique in our local trail inventory.2) Follow through with the planned trail project with the goal of creating a rideable uphill option which will connect the valley floor with the top of Curly's as well as East Fork of Baker Road such that these two points may be reached via singletrack.3) Call together a public forum in which the local users may express their desires, priorities and needs as it relates to our local trail inventory so that we can better our riding throughout the area. This way everyone wins!
