This is what Cyrus looked like after being removed from the SUV.

Stop Cyrus From Being Returned To His Abusive Owner

Target:
Animal Care Review Board
Sponsored by:
On July 31, 2007, Paul Soderholm left his Rottweiler, Cyrus, locked in his SUV in extreme heat conditions. If it were not for the quick action of Toronto Humane Society officer, Tre Smith, the dog would have died. When officer Tre Smith first saw the suffering Rottweiler he was foaming at the mouth and laying still with the "death stare." Officer Smith immediately broke the window, removed Cyrus from the SUV and, with the help of bystanders, began rehydrating and cooling down Cyrus. Tre Smith's rescue efforts saved Cyrus' life.  At first there was fear that Cyrus would suffer permanent brain damage but the brave little guy seems to be making a full recovery.  Now, Paul Soderholm wants Cyrus back. Please sign this petition to let the Animal Care Review Board know that you cannot support Cyrus being returned to his abuser.

We, the undersigned, urge you to rule against Paul Soderholm and deny him custody of Cyrus, the dog he left locked helpless in his vehicle in extreme heat conditions on July 31, 2007. Cyrus could have suffered from permanent brain and kidney damage as a direct result of Mr. Soderholm's negligent and abusive actions. Thankfully, Cyrus appears to be making a full recovery.  It is our sincere hope that Paul Soderholm is convicted of cruelty to an animal and sentenced to the full extent of the law.  Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our position.

In South Africa he would be jailed for cruelty. I can not comprehend a first world country with a stronger sense of justice handing over this poor animal, who has fought so hard to make it, back to the monster who did this to him in the first place.

This guy is a disgrace and should be banned for life from keeping any animal.

Paul Soderholm should not ever get Cyrus back nor should he be allowed to ever own another pet. If he is that cold-hearted to leave an innocent animal in a vehicle with no way to get air. What would happen if it was a child? Are the courts so blind that they can not see him for what he really is??????????

If he was so inconsiderate and uncaring to have left his dog in his car he should not ever be able to own an animal at all. There is no excuse in this day and age as it is well documented in the news all the time as not to allow pets or children to remain in cars unattended.

Paul Soderholm does not deserve to have Cyrus back. But more importantly Cyrus does not deserve to have Paul Soderholm back in his life. Rottweilers suffer badly in the heat - any good Rottweiler owner knows that. Cyrus should be rehomed with someone that cares about his welfare.

Someone who abuses a pet should not only not be allowed to have that pet returned but somehow should be denied the privilege of ever having another. A loving, safe home can be found for Cyrus.

DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN THIS DOG! He has tried to kill him once, must he have a second chance? He does not care about the welfare of this animal, if he did, he would never have left him in a vechile on a hot day. DO NOt Give Him this dog back!!! He does not deserve him.

If he's capable of doing this to an animal would you trust your child with him. How many times do we hear "DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ANIMALS IN YOUR CARS IN THIS HEAT, KEEP THEM INDOORS SHOULD YOU HAVE A/C, or keep them in a COOL shady spot with plenty of water." Does this man possibly need a hearing aid? He has proven that he is an unfit dog owner. Case closed. Next step is to find a loving home for Cyrus.
