We, the undersigned, are distressed to learn that the 30-year-old El Taller Latino Americano Arts & Language Foundation, a vital educational and cultural resource serving more than 200,000 residents and businesses of Manhattan's Upper West Side, is in danger of being forced out of its long-time home because of critical issues that the landlord refuses even to discuss, let alone take steps to resolve.
Therefore, we urge that the owners of 2710 Broadway meet, in good faith, with El Taller's founder and director, Bernardo Palombo, to resolve the urgent issues that threaten the survival of this indispensable and greatly loved Upper West Side institution.

Dear Friends,
Thank you all for your support.
Thank you for your words
Thank you for your actions.
Thank you for your wishes.
Thanks to you we are Taller than ever!
We have received countless kind words - an outpouring of support from students, artists, musicians, activists, politicians, in our community and beyond. We have received encouragement from every corner of the globe including Spain, Japan, Mexico, Germany, China, Russia, all over Latin America and from all over the US and of course, our great City of New York.
Because of your support, we have good news. Through this petition, we were able to clearly illustrate to the landlord the impact that we are making in the community on a daily basis. El Taller will continue to remain in the historic loft-space in which we have resided for the last fourteen years.
This is a new day for El Taller and we are enthusiastic about the future. We have many new ideas ready for 2010 and we hope you will be part of it.
