This isn't Forrest but it sure is a cute dog:)

Save Forrest an Innocent Dog in Denver

Target:
Mayor John Hickenlooper, City of Denver
AN ENORMOUS   THANK YOU!!!TO ALL WHO SIGNED!! MAYOR HICKENLOOPER"S OFFICE HAS NOTIFIED ME VIA E-MAIL TODAY (8/26) that FORREST will have the option of being transferred to an out-of Denver shelter.... Possibly the BEST FRIENDS shelter in Utah.
THANK YOU! EVERYONE for SAVING FORREST!!!

As many are aware, the city of Denver has BSL against Pit bulls and "Pit bull type dogs". This is a sad story about a man and his dog who do not reside in Denver, yet are subject to it's arcane and unjust laws.

Forrest escaped from his owner's property outside of Denver and roamed across city lines. He was picked up by Denver Animal Control and is now in custody awaiting his fate. A DNA test will be administered and if he is found to be  a pit bull, he will be euthanized as early as Monday 8/18/08.

PLEASE help us SAVE FORREST before it is too late. We would like Forrest returned to his owner. There is no reason this dog should have to die.

We, the undersigned, understand that there is a dog named Forrest being held by Denver Animal Control. We are familiar with Denver's laws as they pertain to pit bulls and "pit bull type dogs". We are asking that, given the extenuating circumstances in this case,  you please implement some compassion when finalizing your decision on this matter.

Forrest has not harmed anyone and does not reside in Denver. There is no reason for this innocent dog to lose his life. Your thoughtful consideration is appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to hear our request.

Pit bull dogs are only vicious if they are made that way from birth. If the dog doesn't normally reside in Denver, return him to his rightful owner. Fine the owner for not keeping him up but don't destroy the dog. I'm sure the owner loves his pet and will be devastated. I know I love my Annie and I would be emotionally destroyed if she was put down because she is a schnauzer.

Forrest is a pet. Since he didn't reside in Denver proper Denver authority shoudl end there and return him to his owner. My next dog neighbor had a pit bull that looks just like Forrest and he would lick you to death.

Hard to believe that this could possibly happen in a "civilized" world.

Please do not kill this dog!!! He is loved and, if given the chance, will probably never darken your door again. We see hundreds of animals, including Pit Bull type dogs, that are discarded like trash; this animal is a pet that has a loving home and has not been polluted by mistreatment, like so many. Please, Please PLEASE release the dog back into his home.

This is pure discrimination. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners! My dogs' best friend is a pit bull who has never bit, growled, clawed, or tried to hurt anything in its life. She loves everything and everyone, even the cats!

Please let this poor dog go home. Make sure they keep their dog within their yard from now on.

If Forest hasn't harm anyone, why, then, is Denver willing to inflict harm on this dog? If the reason is his breed, then isn't it discrimination? How does it differ from human discrimination?

It's a shame that Denver would do somthing like that. If they knew anything about pit bulls they would know that pit bulls are one of the most loyal and family oriented dogs. Anyone can train any type of dog to be mean. DON'T KILL FORREST!!!

You need to spend some time with this wonderful breed to know how loving a creature they are. Take 10 minutes of your day and just see for yourself....

Please look at this dogs face and know that it is a precious animal that deserves to live just like any other dog. Breed should not make a difference here.

I'm Jewish-the Nazis tried the same thing on my people! Breed specific laws are WRONG! It says the community has failed. Why doesn't he get to go back to his owner??

Why is it that only the poor and defenseless animals are subjected to animal cruelty by humans! This is outrageous and unnecessary. This is not the fault of this poor doggie - Please take the time to find him a loving and permanent home instead of killing him!!! Would you kill a person for roaming the streets? Animals are animals just like us and they have a soul and feel hurt and pain - LET HIM LIVE !!

Please, please spare this gorgeous dogs life!!!! He did nothing wrong!!!!!!This breed profiling is as unfair as racial profiling. Spare this dog-it is not his fault he has a sterotypical "look" created by media mass hysteria! My pitbull sleeps in bed and LOVES my 3 year old and 1 and a half year old nephew...........

Banning all pit bulls is not the way to keep communities safe. It is unfair, inhumane, misguided legislation. This dog has never harmed anyone. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for even considering putting this dog to death. Please, I implore you - do the right thing. Save Forrest's life and return him to his rightful owner.

When government, whether it be city, county, state or federal is given the right to act as judge, jury and executioner all civil liberties and rights are threatened. Prejudice in any form does not display the character of the most powerful, careing and forgiving country in the world.

I have always loved and respected animals and it just kills me what people put these pitties through. Pitbulls are WONDERFUL dogs, very loyal and loving. Just like any animal they are what you train them to be. It's not their fault, the people who raised them and taught them to be vicious should be put down, NOT THE DOG!!!

It's time to revisit a bad law enacted out of fear and ignorance. Dogs should not be euthanized simply because of their breed or mix, without cause. Return Forrest to his owner. To euthanize a good dog because of a bad law, is unjust and should be repealed.

When will the insanity stop? There are many nicer Pit Bulls than some human beings. Go after the real criminals preying on the elderly and children, the taggers, and those who are a menace to society.

It is unjust to be prejudice against a particular breed of dog. This dog's owner does not live in Denver and should not be put down because he didn't know where he was going. As Lori from N.C. stated, dogs are like our children and this owner must be devestated. Fine him and give him back to his owner. He is beautiful and deserves to go home. Too many dogs are euthenized because they have no home to go to...don't do this!!!
