The sanctuary in Tennessee has more than 2700 acres. Lucy is also living by herself at the zoo. At the sanctuary she will be among many of her own kind.

The Mayor of Edmonton isn't accountable to 95% of the people have signed this petition. Only 27 of you are even from Canada and I doubt all are from Edmonton. How many of you have even been to the Valley Zoo? Lucy IS comfortable and in good health. Her age speaks volumes about the quality of care that she has received at the Valley Zoo. Elephants don't live to be her age in either captivity or in the wild. Do you think that she is lonely? Whose fault is that? The activists are the ones responsible for her playmate, Samantha's move out of the zoo. Shame on all of you ill informed sheep who have signed this petition and shame on the two progenitors of this movement. Triple shame if this signature is deleted the one-sided debate is allowed to continue ad nauseum. |

PLEASE give this poor creature a chance for a happy life with HER KIND! Let her have companionship with other elephants. Forget the line about missing her handlers. Do you actually believe for one minute that ANY elephant would RATHER have a human over another elephant? If you believe THAT you have no right to be running a zoo. You K N O W better!!!!!

I lived in Edmonton, the weather conditions are horrendous, and not to be with animals of her own kind is cruel also. Please send Lucy where she,ll be happy, for heavens sake, will someone do something that,s right for a change!!!!!

I cannot believe that this issue is still ongoing! When is society going to wake up to the fact that we should not keep animals in prisons. Lucy, as well as those poor souls in calgary, must not be prisoners of human greed supplied for people to gawk at. They deserve to be treated with the same respect that we, as a society, would like to be treated. They share this planet with us. They have done their time. Let the elephants have their dignity back and send them off to tennessee....

I have read the following information about Lucy the Elephant..and I too agree that Lucy should be moved to an environment that will meet her needs. The reason we do not see Elephants living in Edmonton is because elephants could not survive there.She should be in a place where she is comforted, I believe it is inhumane to keep her where she is. She is a beautiful creature who deserves to be cared for by the best where she has an environment that can accomodate her needs. Please do not hold this creature captive anymore and let her go to the sancutary where she can live the rest of her life comfortably and with other elephants. Thank You Michelle Tompkins

It is shockingly cruel to keep a solitary elephant and particularly in such an inhospitable climate. Send her to a sanctuary so that she can live her remaining years with companions and space to roam.
