Save NJN Public Television

Save NJN Public Television

Target:
NJN Foundation
NJN Public Television needs your help to get the word out to Governor Jon Corzine as they are facing financial difficulties and an inefficient Foundation that is secretly trying to takeover and possibly lay off about 40% of the staff!

The State of New Jersey owns the NJN licenses that are worth far more than what has been said, they are being held back from being used to their fullest potential to gain revenue, and stands to loose them to the Foundation.  No plans have been given as to what the Foundation will do to the station, so your normal great programming may change for the worse!

Do you enjoy the quality programs on NJN?  Children's programming, News, and local documentaries?  Are you an NJN Member and enjoy the benefits involved including special premium seating availability for concerts?

I love watching NJN news and feel it is the best source of local unbiased no spin news because it is locally run. This could change if it is sold. Please reconsider. As a teacher for 29 years, I love Classroom Close Up which has run many outstanding shows about todays schools. Please continue to license this locally.

We desperately need public television to provide us with fair reporting on critical national issues. NJN has done a great job of reporting on local, state, and national issues, provides public services such as Homeless Tails, and has great prograsms including Masterpiece Theater, British mysteries, and travel shows like Rick Steves and Burt Wolf. We need NJN!

PUBLIC TELEVISION HAS GIVEN ME AND MY FAMILY HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT ... AND IS REALLY THE MOST DECENT TV PROGRAMMING AROUND. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP IT FUNDED AND ALIVE.

The current economic state of our nation reflects the basic poverty of "free market" policy. Without government oversight or regulation we have been brought to the brink of disaster. Turning over NJN, one of New Jersey's crown jewels, to private "insiders" with little creative ability will have a significant negative impact on not only programming but more importantly on our state identity. NJN belongs to the people of New Jersey. It is a public entity. Let's keep it that way. Leandra Little, NJN, Retired

I think it's a big mistake to let NJN be taken over and I just don't understand why the state with the biggest real estate taxes and largest incomes can't afford to support its current structure.

There aren't enough worthwhile shows on t.v. Therefore, I don't think making these changes would be the right approach. I love seeing the many quality programs on NJN, including Class Room Close-Up NJ and reporting of the local news in NJ. It would be a shame if we lost these programs.

I depend upon NJN for news and local documentaries. I do not want to see the staff cut in any way. I believe they already work with a bare bones budget, and any cuts in staff or funding would be detrimental to the quality of programming on NJN.

During my time as President of the Piazza Nuova Lodge in Yardley, PA, members of the organization and I volunteered to “man the phones” during Italian programs. We were happy to contribute the time because of the quality of the presentations and the overall quality of everything NJN offered. I am disheartened to think that any thinking person/s would even consider selling out!

Without NJN (TV & Radio) what do we have left, News12 on Cable-TV and 101.5 Radio (yak!!!). We will miss the News on Politics, Arts and Culture that makeup our New Jersey. Our Fathers established NJN 40 years ago for an excellent reason not for nonprofit/profit for some foundation of some kind. We need NJN to continue informing and providing its services for the Taxpayers of this state. In addition, NJN promotes politics and exposes the arts & cultures for its historical values. It will be a great lose to privatize NJN run it like all the other TV & Radio stations with programming like soap operas, gong shows and commercials (car, food & drug) every ten minutes.

NJN provides nj with the voice of a diverse state, an invaluable service with enlightening programming for all New Jersey residents, especially many of those without disposable income for cable, I love the fact that you never have to worry about watching a reality show with idiots with spray on tans on NJN!!!!!!.

NJN Public Televison is a wonderful resource that would be sorely missed, for state and local news. It is a neccesary alternative to viewing commercial television and the so called reality shows flooding the airwaves.

As a public school teacher in New Jersey, I value the progamming on NJN tremendously. THe support it offered our curriculum is unmatched by any other television station. I beg you to reconsider-- and save NJN!

NJN provides news, entertainment and an Identity ti a very important state that is wedged between the New York and Philadelphia markets, to get rid of it would be one more blow to losing our status as a Player in the market. KEEP NJN!!!

We as residents of the state should not look to sell pieces of our infrastructure to the highest bidder when those placed in charge fail to deliver. NJN provides quality programming for residents of New Jersey. Do not let a valuable resource such as this go to waste.

I believe the current Executive Director is in this for her own personal gain. I have watch the programing go down hill since she has been in charge. NJN use to be top notchthey need new leadership not a give away.

Please leave NJN in the hands of it's rightful owners. The PEOPLE of NJ! There money built the assets. It is unconscionable for the state to allow a few to benefit from the work of the citizens of NJ. And the present voice in the quality of programming and operation.

NJN has been an important part of New Jersey's public life for years. It is important to the citizens of the state as well as the employees of the station that the NJN Foundation not be allowed to privatize the station, thus changing the focus of the station--from people of NJ to profits.
# 169:

It would be a crime to give away one of our great states assets in such a time of fiscal trouble not to mention the great programing that would be lost. Instead of laying off employees use the revenue generating potential to save this public institution.

NJN has been part of my life, for all my life. My parents met there in the 70's and have been part of the NJN family since. Aside from my parents employment there, the state of NJ would be at a great loss without the non-profit public television focusing, primarily, on the great state of New Jersey.
