Save our squirrels

Yet another species has become a victim of human slaughter. One gameshop owner in Northumberland has already sold over 1,000 squrrel carcasses for £3.50 each. And what will they be used for? Meat! Would you fancy eating a "Cornish squirrel pasty"? No animal deserves to end its life wrapped in pastry

We the undersigned are expressing our disgust at the fact that grey squirrels are being culled and  having their carcasses sold to the butchers. Humans have no right to decide which species prosper.
We understand that there is concern over the population of our native red squirrels, but this is no way to deal with the problem. Nature reserves specifically for red squirrels are an effective and humane way to help.
We would urge you to ban this cruel slaughter and consider more ethical alternatives. No animal deserves to end its life wrapped in pastry.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
