SAVE OUR WILD HORSES -SAY NO TO HR 767 as is

The REPAIR Act (H.R. 767) has been making its way quietly through the U.S. Congress. The stated goal of the bill is to eradicate harmful nonnative species from federal wildlife refuges. This could have dramatic consequences for wild horses on wildlife refuges: although they are a reintroduced native wildlife species, horses are treated by the government as nonnative; the REPAIR Act could allow refuges such as Sheldon to appropriate federal dollars (our tax dollars!) specifically to eradicate wild horses (click here for a report on Sheldon?s last round-up - CAUTION: graphic material).

The bill passed in the House and is now awaiting a Senate vote. As Chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee, Senator Barbara Boxer (CA) controls if and when the bill is brought to a vote.

Please alert Senator Boxer to the unintended consequences H.R. 767 could have for thousands of wild horses. Urge her NOT to move the bill unless it is amended to exclude wild horses from its scope. If a Senator from your state sits on the Environment and Public Works Committee, please also contact him/her to voice your concern. Click here for a list of Committee members.

With president Bush promoting big game hunting on federal lands, it is easy to see the HIDDEN AGENDA to remove the wild horses off our federal lands so they can be replaced with more big game. Big game hunting permits bring big $$$ to the bureaucrats. That is what we are up against in this fight to save our wild horses and keep them free-ranging on our federal lands. Bottom line, our own government sees them as nuisances, and is out to eridicate them.

Sign the petition to protect our wild horses, say NO to HR 767 without protection for our wild horses that would allow them to stay on federal land. Make the necessary calls and write your letters, please. Contact your local media network and tell them you are appalled and that you think they should cover the story. Americans need to know the diaboical plan for extinction our government has set for our wild horses. They need us now more than ever, in this, their twilight struggle.
