Southland Has Been Saved by TNT!
Please, if you haven't already, go ahead and sign the petition anyway! The more signatures we get, the better - even though the show has been picked up by TNT, they still have to make the decision to order new episodes and for that we need RATINGS!!! In a move that has shocked people across America, from fans to actors and crew on the show itself, NBC Universal has made the questionable decision to cancel the show Southland just 2 weeks before its scheduled 2nd season return.
This popular and critically acclaimed show was one of the few shows on NBC that actually appealed to viewers, with real-life situations and a gritty feel that left viewers wanting more. For the network to cancel it just 2 weeks before it was scheduled to return, after renewing it, is unprecedented in network history. NBC's official reason for the cancellation? "the network isn%u2019t 'financially viable' to keep the show on the air."
NBC's planned replacement for the show? What else - another night of Dateline! Like we need yet another night of Dateline on NBC, which got them into 4th place in the ratings to start out with.
In 2007, CBS canceled the wildly popular show Jericho, also on a cliffhanger, and the fans responded with petitions and nuts - tons and tons of nuts sent to the network offices of CBS, which resulted in a 2nd season for Jericho.
We aren't suggesting you send nuts to NBC - that's been done! But we do need your signatures! Please sign our petition here (even if you have signed the Twitter Twitition!) and help us gather as many signatures as we can to get the word to NBC that they are making a HUGE mistake.
Save Southland and bring us back some quality television. TV does not run on 5 nights a week of Jay Leno and multiple Datelines, no matter how much the Executives might wish it.
