Save Temengor Campaign 2011

Dear friends of the environment,

Dating back to our scientific expeditions in 1993, public campaigns in 2006, the eventual gazettement of the Royal Belum State Park in 2007 and our Save Temengor Campaign launched in 2010, MNS has consistently campaigned for the conservation of Belum-Temengor Forest Complex (BTFC) in Perak, Malaysia.

Its been a little over a year since our Save Temengor Campaign was re-launched as there is now an ever more urgent need to protect the rich and astounding biodiversity of this forest from logging and illegal poaching. As part of this ongoing campaign, we call upon you to lend us your names and champion this cause.

Sign the petition to save Temengor here now if you have not signed and help us make this natural gem protected. If you have a Facebook account, have some fun creating your own forest signature by visiting www.savetemengor.org and help us reach our 100 000 mark (or more) as only 83 000 signatures have been collected this far. We hope that this new, fun, interactive and important initiative will continue to create awareness of Temengor but furthermore, to encourage the state government that eco tourism should be the key commodity as opposed to a production forest for logging.

With World Environment Day 2011 just around the corner (5th June 2011) and this being the United Nations designated International Year of Forests, please play your part and make an impact by clicking and signing, it does not take long. We intend to handover the signatures to the state government as soon as possible.

If you have already signed your name during our campaign last year, please now help us spread the message to your other friends, family and colleagues.
