The Government of India's Archaeological Survey of India (who run the Taj), have discovered that the underground vaults are crumbling. They have announced they intend to a) either move the Taj 800 metres to the south-east or b) replace the heavy minarets with new ones made of lightweight material. We believe a full survey needs to be carried out to look at less radical alternatives, as these solutions threaten to alter forever one of the world's greatest monuments - which belongs to us all. We ask the Prime Minister of India to intervene with the Archaeological Survey of India and to find a less damaging solution.

Dear Prime Minister of India We the under-signed are shocked to hear of the subsidence of the Taj Mahal. However, we beg you to reconsider your intention to either move the Taj Mahal 800 metres or to dismantle the minarets. We beleive the Taj belongs to the whole world, and ask you to consult world experts to find a less harmful solution.

it's not the wonder of India only... it's a wonder of the WORLD! Distraction of minarets is a crime against history!

To destroy the Minarets would be vandalism on a par with the Talibans destruction of the Lost Buddas of Bamiyam. This would badly damage the standing of India in eyes of the world, futhermore the draw to visit visit plastic reprodutions would certainly not equal the tourists who flock to the Taj at the moment, and there would be loss of tourist income for Agra and India as a whole. A crumbling ruin of the Taj Mahal would be ore beautiful than an intact plastic copy.

It would be a shame to lose such a world wonder and the Indian government should do all it can to ensure that the Taj Mahal stays the way it was built. Its a world Landmark and should be cherished

It would be a great upset to see such a great monument taken apart from it's original entity.

Seeing the Taj Mahal at sunrise was a life-altering experience. She's a gem & time could be well spent to make sure you've considered all the options to repair the damage...support this beautiful monument & yet keep it as close to the original state as possible.

I visited when I was 18 years old, almost a decade ago, and its magnificence is forever burned in my memory.

Please do more studies, in this days we have so much technology. Taj Mahal is a symbol of love, only those who have been there understand the serenity.

One of my dream is to come & see the Taj Mahal. I don't think I'm going to go anymore if they rebuild it.
