Save Toronto's Public Libraries

The Toronto Public Library needs our help.

Due to the cost cutting plans of the Toronto City Council, the Toronto Public Library is in danger of being privatized. This would mean the closure of local branches, along with higher user fees, fewer books, less access to vital services, and the dismissal of many library staff.

Please sign our petition telling Mayor Ford that libraries, a precious educational and cultural resource, should not be up for sale.
We the undersigned, fear that privatization of some or all of the operations of the Toronto Public Library will result in the closure of local branches, as well as the limiting of hours of operation, staff cuts, an increase in user fees, a reduction in services, and fewer books. All of this would be in the name of making a profit.

Privatization would also mean that a precious public service, the pride of all great cities, would be lost to Toronto.

We are therefore urging you to keep Toronto's Public Library public and working for its citizens, rather than for a corporation.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
