Round Valley Reservoir. One of the State Parks that may be closed to fishing, camping and swimming.

Save the Department of Agriculture and Keep New Jersey State Parks open

Target:
New Jersey citizens
Sponsored by:

Governor Corzine's proposed state budget threatens the NJ Department of Agriculture and parks and recreation areas.

Agriculture in New Jersey accounts for $82 billion to the state economy and 60,000 jobs. The Department of Agriculture is responsible for gypsy moth control, food safety, farmland preservation, and The Jersey Fresh Campaign, among many important projects. Under the proposed budget, the funding necessary to run this department and these vital programs is uncertain.

In addition, the proposed budget will affect many parks, including Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Stephens State Park, High Point State Park, Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, Round Valley Recreation Area, Parvin State Park, Jenny Jump State Forest, Worthington State Forest, Fort Mott State Park, Ringwood State Park , D&R Canal State Park, and Washington Crossing State Park. These parks will remain open, but may not have sufficient staff or funding that would allow patrons to use them for the swimming, fishing, or camping that is customarily offered.

These budget cuts will have a drastic effect on New Jersey's economy and its citizens' quality of life. I urge you to join with me in signing this petition to let Governor Corzine know that these cuts are unacceptable to anyone proud to live in "The Garden State".

At a time when agriculture is under extreme pressures, now is no the time to cut back! Beekeepers too need the Dept of Agriculture. Outdoor recreation is vital for people who want to enjoy vacation time here in NJ!

i think that keeping state parks open is very important because they keep the public educated about wildlife and have more open land.

The way to be closest to God to me is to be around his natural creations. Please don't take them away. Also, food regulation and checking is extremely important and we can't afford to lose this very important department. If we do..................eventually many people could die from unchecked and unmonitored food supplies etc.. PLEASE......EVERYONE SIGN THIS PETITION?!

Another typical decision from our so called leaders,as long as they get paid who cares, all they do is take and take from the tax payers and give nothing, leave our parks alone and keep them cared for.
