We ask Cardiff County Council Planning Committee to reject the planning application by Charles Church Wales & Mitchell and Butler to demolish the historic Pantmawr Inn and out buildings to build 36 flats in four three story blocks with 48 parking places.
We ask Cardiff County Council Planning Committee to reject the planning application by Charles Church Wales & Mitchell and Butler to demolish the historic Pantmawr Inn and out buildings to build 36 flats in four three story blocks with 48 parking places.
Stop this development. Stop developers destroying our communities by demolishing historical well loved buildings - in this case our local pub - to build horrid blocks of flats in a sea of concrete. The drainage won't cope, the roads are already congested. The flats will overlook and tower over houses and bungalows creating a blot on the landscape with no amenities. Don't come back with another application. Keep the pub and invest in the local community.
We signed the "Stop the Pantmawr Development" petition!

Surely Pantmawr estate is big enough, why destroy a piece of local history, leave the pub, trees and wildlife alone you money grabbers.

I have lived on this estate since 1963, when it still had a rural atmosphere. Since losing the shops and gaining the motorway it has gone to the dogs. Losing the pub would be the last straw!

I want to say that this increasing process of destroying community amenity and cohesion as well as destroying the built heritage and the enviornment must be opposed for the sake of future generations.

There are too many flats in Cardiff and not enough places for people to go and enjoy themselves as a local community. The Pantmawr is an excellent pub, with good food and ambience for all ages. Planners need to think about what people will do as well as where they live. A private individual would find it impossible to obtain planning for anything comparable, so lets have the same rules for the corporate developers.

This is AWFUL! It will be a sad day for Pantwamr, Cardiff, Wales & the UK if this rubbish goes through!
What is happening to this once great country of ours! LEAVE THE PUB ALONE - its aprt of the local history & heritage!

I feel it is absolutely irresponsible for the planners to allow the demolition of a local pub which is a part of Welsh history and heritage. It used to be a Welsh farmhouse and still retains some original features. It is also a family orientated pub with a pleasant outside area for children. The pub acts as a focal point for young and old in the community at a time when the luck of facilities for young people is a wide spread problem. By demolishing the Pantmawr Pub, and allowing to build yet more flats (which the market in Cardiff is saturated with) the Council are depriving the community of its Welsh heritage and destroying the community spirit.
SHAME ON YOU PLANNERS! and GOOD LUCK TO THE PROTEST GROUP!

It's no wonder community spirit is breaking down and our society has such problems when developers would quite happily remove every facility from an area. I bet they would'nt do this if they lived on the estate.

Pubs are an important part of a community, especially in view of all the other social amenities which are being eroded. Once gone, they will never come back so this is the only chance we have to save this precious place.

I wonder how many M.P's, Planning Officers, Councillors, etc would accept this ridiculous planning application, if it was in their back yard. We have nothing on Pantmawr other than the 'pub', take this away and we have literally nothing and no where to meet. I am a 41 year resident on this estate. This estate is no place for a concrete jungle - stop it once and for all.

It sickens me how developers miss what a neighbourhood, village means to a community. I hope that I will be included in the petition against this developement. I spent many comfortable times sitting in your pub with wonderful friends enjoying great atmosphere, laughter and delicious food. People watching is a lot of fun aand this is a neighbourhood pub. This lovely old pub brings people together and when visitors from else where arrive "here's a bit of comfort" . I wish luck and look forward to my next visit to the neighbourhood pub.

remove the local pub and or other amenities ie. local pub, corner shop, post office, and you will lose the community. if YOU lose the community spirit you lose the pride and care that people have for their area. STANDARDS FALL and suddenly you have a run down or scruffy problem area. your community spirit is your PRIDE

If I remember correctly the local residents of Pantmawr recently (2005?)opposed an application to extend licensing regulations to allow an extension of time for the opening hours for the pub. Also the pub is unviable due to the residents not using ' this facility that is at the heart of the community'! Finally there are a fair few Pantmawr residents that use my local 'Deri Arma@ ar their regular drinking hole! Seems like good old middle class NIMBYism to me.

The Pantmawr pub was begun as a Dairy in 1826 and converted to a pub in 1960, it is steeped in history and The Pantmawr is a prime example of an excellent community, family pub with oak beams and a log fire. The Pantmawr estate grew up around the pub and it has always played a major part in the local community. It boasts real ales, live music, a beautiful garden and disabled facilities. To lose this beautiful and historic building would be scandalous.

Anyone who has spent a summer's evening here and seen the children playing within sight of parents and with no fear from traffic will appreciate what an asset the "Pant" is to the estate. Please support us - without the Pant, the area will become characterless. The current management is doing a fantastic job - don't let them down.
