Expansion and Modernization of the Cherokee County Consolidated Shelter

Our current shelter was built many years ago before the recent growth of our community.  The cats are confined in the same area as the dogs, which is detrimental to the health of the cats.  Also, sick and aggressive dogs are kept with healthy dogs.  Due to overcrowding, healthy animals are being killed to make room for other stray animals that are being brought in on a daily basis.  We need a larger and more modern facility that is animal- and people- friendly.  This expansion will not only save lives, but will encourage more of our residents to visit the shelter as potential adopters.  A more modern facility will ensure that the animals who find themselves at our shelter will be housed in a safer and more comfortable place until they can be adopted.
