Say "NO" to killing feral cats and "YES" to TNR!

The Provo City Council has temporarily approved an ordinance change to accommodate a program where BYU students trap feral cats on campus, outfit them with radio collars, release them back onto campus to observe their movements, then turn them over to be killed. Currently, the city ordinance states that all feral cats trapped must be turned over to Provo's Animal Control immediately. The ordinance change merely suspends that requirement until the end of the study, when they plan to retrap the cats to be turned over to animal control.
My plan of action is to change what is to happen to the feral cats upon completion of the study and hopefully establish feral cat colonies in this area and raise awareness of Trap-Neuter-Return
We, the undersigned, are upset that you have approved a temporary change to an ordinance which previously required trapped feral cats to be immediately turned over to Animal Control. We fully support TNR(trap-neuter-return) programs and would like to see established feral cat colonies in this community. It is the most humane way to "deal" with the feral cat population.
Thank you for your time.
